Position Overview

The Quality Control Manager, Hot Mix Asphalt is responsible for the Hot Mix Asphalt quality control program for the organization and provide leadership for the Quality Control and Hot Mix Asphalt/Construction Teams. This position ensures success of the group through leading a high performing team, ensuring positive results with our customers and agencies, and continuously making our business better. This position will create success through both hands-on efforts as well as creating an environment for the team to succeed and grow.  In this role you will work with other business leaders, a team of Quality Control technicians and other stakeholders to advance the company’s strategy, deliver its values and create a successful and great place to work.

 

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

Ÿ Adhere to and follow all safety rules and regulations of MSHA/OSHA/DOT and Pennsy Supply, Inc.

Ÿ Drive a culture of safety as well as the organizational safety initiatives within the Hot Mix Asphalt Quality Control group.

Ÿ  Provide leadership and direction to the Quality Control team to ensure high quality, efficiency, and service.

Ÿ  Exhibit leadership principles with the Quality Control and Hot Mix Asphalt teams and continue to grow in leadership.

Ÿ  Drive Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) including mix optimization, design optimization, recycle efficiency, and bonus capture.

Ÿ  Develops and analyzes statistical data and product specifications to determine present standards and establish proposed quality and reliability expectancy of finished products.

Ÿ  Responsible for monitoring quality of raw material at sites and working with team to maintain and improve.

Ÿ  Formulate and maintain quality assurance objectives and coordinate objectives with production procedures in cooperation with other plant managers to maximize product reliability and minimize cost.

Ÿ  Plan and prepare for mix designs and lead design scheduling efforts.

Ÿ  Direct employees engaged in inspection and testing activities to ensure continuous control over materials, facilities, and products.

Ÿ  Plan, promote, and organize training activities related to asphalt products quality and reliability.

Ÿ  Investigate and address customer complaints regarding asphalt quality.

Ÿ  Manage and schedule all Quality Control personnel in coordination with the Ready Mix Concrete Quality Control Manager, Aggregate Quality Control Manager, and Lead Technicians.

Ÿ  Participate in PennDOT pre-pave meetings.

Ÿ  Visit projects and engage with customers and crew to ensure we are providing quality product and continuously improving.

Ÿ  Participate in industry associations as needed.

Ÿ  Support hiring, retention, and development of Quality Control technicians.

Ÿ  Oversee NECEPT Certification program and schedule training/certifications/recertifications as needed.
