WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
We are looking for an experienced data, software, and research engineer combination to help build, improve and deploy data acquisition systems, curation, processing, modeling and visualization pipelines that elevate and push the boundaries of sport science.
The candidate needs to have both strong programming skills and research background with demonstrated ability to work with diverse types of data relevant to sport science. This includes proven experience in data acquisition, pre-processing, management, organization, visualization, storage and versioning of complex data sets! We are looking for candidates who are self-motivated, curious and have strong interpersonal and communication skills.
WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON
If this is you, you’ll be a core member of the Advanced Innovation Collective Digital Capabilities Team. You will have the opportunity to:
Guide the architecture, design, development and automation of complex data collection, curation, processing and analysis pipelines
Clean, prepare and optimize data for consumption by data scientists, sport science researchers and administrators
Design and build reusable software components, frameworks, tools and libraries for research
Anticipate, identify and solve data management, data quality, data availability and data versioning issues
Solve complex data-related issues, perform root cause analysis and proactively build solutions
Develop scripts, tools, reports and dashboards for processing, organizing and visualizing large, diverse and complex data
Develop tools and processes to analyze and profile data to enable design of new scalable solutions
Develop, apply and promote data and software engineering standards and best practices
Collaborate with researchers, data scientists, hardware and software engineering teams to help build, improve and deploy data acquisition systems, processing and visualization pipelines
Lead and train others in the use, maintenance and continuous improvement of data solutions
WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH
In this role, you will primarily partner with biomechanics researchers and data scientists, and also collaborate with physiology, perception and behavioral research scientists to proactively find opportunities to leverage software, advanced analytics and machine learning in building impactful, data-powered products and solutions.
You will also work collaboratively with dynamic and multi-functional teams of product managers, designers, solution architects, software and embedded systems engineers. You will build and nurture strong, positive relationships with various partners throughout Nike and together help accelerate the development of innovative products and services with a strong scientific foundation.
WHAT YOU BRING
Required Education/Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in a STEM-related or research discipline with 5+ years of demonstrated experience building software and data tools, OR Master’s degree in related field with 4+ years of demonstrated experience
Proven proficiency in Python, Java, relational SQL, and NoSQL
Proven proficiency in building cloud scalable solutions on AWS or Azure
Proven experience in building software/tools that process complex human movement data for sport and/or exercise science research purposes
Proven experience with source control tools such as GitHub and related development process
Proven experience with data structures, object-oriented programming, functional-style programming, micro-services, APIs, and information systems
Proven experience with machine learning frameworks and analytics pipelines
Proven experience communicating technical information in written and verbal formats
Proven experience managing multiple projects and prioritizing workstreams to reach goals
Proven ability to pick up new programming languages, technologies, and frameworks
Proven experience with Agile software development practices
