As Cruise scales up in multiple cities across USA and globally, we are looking for a skilled Hardware Test Engineer to debug and triage systems level issues encompassing compute units and network switches. This is a very multi-functional role where the candidate will have to work with our Hardware, Software, Systems and Fleet Operations teams. This is a great opportunity for individuals to apply transferable skills and experience from another industry, such as aerospace / avionics, defense, industrial, power, telecommunications, UAVs / drones, robotics, automated manufacturing, or medical instrumentation.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Validate hardware and firmware against component level requirements and define test plan including spirent/ixia traffic generator

  • Perform regression testing on all new and existing hardware/firmware to ensure forward and backward compatibility on our fleet including garage and road testing

  • Design and implement test tools for the review and verification process. Refining existing process to improve test and validation coverage of new boards during design phase

  • Accurately and efficiently document test results, analyze data, and communicate results with the team and various stakeholders while continually improving test methods

  • Review existing component, system benches, and existing fleet and identify gaps and propose/implement process improvements with primary focus on compute and network switches

  • Work cross-functionally to maintain bug tracker and feedback lessons learned to design team

  • Work with Tier 1 / 2 / Contract Manufacturers vendors on component development and testing strategies, clarify technical queries on testing and validation

What you must have:

  • BS in Electrical Engineering or related technical field

  • 5+ years of experience with hardware validation with proficiency in: ethernet switch design, high speed interface design and validation, compliance tests for different standards such as IEEE (Ethernet), FPD, MIPI, DDR, PCIe

  • Strong knowledge in electrical engineering fundamentals, power & signal integrity, and analog/digital circuits

  • Experience using lab equipment such as bench power supplies, high-speed oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and common lab equipments

  • Experience with high speed interfaces such as: 25G-KR, 10G-KR, 10GBase-T, SFP, QSFP, 1G-T1, PCIe, DDR4, as well as I2C, MDIO

  • Good understanding and comfortable working in Linux environment

  • Automotive industry experience

  • Experience with requirements management tool like DOORS, Jama, etc

The salary range for this position is $114,300 - 168,000. Compensation will vary depending on location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. You may also be offered a bonus, restricted stock units, and benefits. These ranges are subject to change.
