What You'll Do 

Direct Student Support

  • Work one-on-one, in pairs, and in small groups with students diagnosed with learning differences or other diagnoses that impact achievement
  • Address reading, writing, math, executive functioning, study skills, social-emotional wellness, and other identified areas of need based on teacher input and psycho-educational testing
  • Develop and implement individualized curriculum, digital tools, charts, games, and other aids to help students access classroom material in alternate forms

Faculty Collaboration & Professional Development

  • Collaborate with classroom teachers through Grade Level Teams to determine appropriate student support and accommodations
  • Provide periodic faculty professional development on best practices for serving students with learning differences
  • Interpret psycho-educational reports and convey pertinent educational recommendations to teachers and parents in clear, accessible language

Family & Community Partnership

  • Communicate regularly with parents through conferences and monthly progress comments, keeping families informed of challenges and growth
  • Attend and/or schedule conferences with parents and teachers as needed
  • Participate actively in the life of the school, including ARC meetings, division meetings, whole-school meetings, and grade-level meetings
  • Participate in school community events including occasional evening and weekend responsibilities such as admission open houses, observations, and interviews
  • Ensure that students adhere to The Lovett School's behavioral guidelines
  • Fulfill additional duties as assigned

Who You Are

Your Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field required; Master's in Special Education/Learning Disabilities or Reading/Literacy strongly preferred
  • Experience: Minimum 3 years as a Learning Specialist
  • Expertise: Proven success implementing diverse learning strategies and interventions; skilled in data-driven decision-making and progress monitoring
