Job Description

What you get to do in this role:   

  • Define and execute the near-term and long-term strategy for an established global capital and infrastructure accounting team to support maturation and scale.
  • Enable people, processes, and systems to ensure compliant accounting for transactions involving fixed assets (including data centers), leases, and capitalized software.
  • Manage, coordinate, and lead a team in monthly, quarterly, and year-end accounting close activities for all matters related to capital and infrastructure accounting around the world, including interactions with external auditors as needed.
  • Design, implement, and maintain effective global accounting policies, processes, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Serve as a trusted global partner with subject-matter expertise to provide insights to the business and Strategic Finance as we continue to evolve the complexity of our operations.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of ServiceNow’s policies to properly account for all transactions involving fixed assets (including data centers), leases, and capitalized software
    Form strong cross-functional partnerships with Real Estate, Workplace Services, Cloud Supply Chain, Digital Technology Program Managers, Procurement and Sourcing, and Strategic Finance to ensure completeness, accuracy, and timeliness of global capital and infrastructure accounting data and financial statement results.
  • Engage with Technical Accounting to conclude on appropriate accounting for operating leases and finance leases in accordance with ASC Topic 842 and capitalized software in accordance with ASC Subtopics 350-40 and 985-20 as well as unique data center hardware arrangements and other topics as needed.
  • Participate in cross-functional projects to represent accounting requirements in the selection of tools that support our real estate portfolio as well as initiatives related to reciprocal deals and other complex transactions involving capital and infrastructure assets.
  • Manage a distributed workforce (e.g., fully remote individuals in the U.S., international employees in India and/or Costa Rica)

Qualifications

To be successful in this role you have:

  • 10+ years of accounting experience, to include 5+ years in public accounting.
  • Strong accounting background with knowledge of relevant U.S. GAAP topics (ASC 842, ASC 350, ASC 360)
  • BS/BA degree in Finance or Accounting
  • CPA or equivalent preferred
  • Strong project management and process improvement skills
  • Experience with SAP (or other large ERP system) is strongly preferred.
  • Exceptional people leadership skills with demonstrated ability to create a high performing team in a collaborative and complex environment.
  • Energetic and positive attitude
  • Ability to think strategically, communicate vision, and execute plans to meet business objectives.
  • Proven ability to identify and drive process and system improvements.
  • Ability to lead and mentor but also roll up sleeves and be a team player.
