The Maintenance Safety and Security Specialist provides highly skilled maintenance services. By installing and repairing mechanical and electronic devices, this position ensures the safety and security of GTCC facilities.
Min Salary $44,993.26 Mid Salary $50,617.41 - We offer a competitive salary package that will be determined based on the candidate's experience level and qualifications related to the job. Compensation will be commensurate with your level of experience. Duties/Functions Difficult Challenges Contacts Education Required
  • High school diploma or GED Certificate.
  • Successful completion of a nationally recognized locksmith certification or a combination of experience and education will be considered.
  • Possession of an NC Locksmith License or the ability to obtain one within 3 months of employment.
Education Preferred
  • Completion of an associate degree in electronics
Experience Required
  • 5 years of experience in the installation and repair of doors, door frames, door hardware, door closers, handicap door openers, and their associated electronics.
  • 5 years of experience in the installation and repair of mechanical and electronic locks.
  • Experience in at least 5 disciplines, including but not limited to plumbing, carpentry, masonry, light construction, roofing, painting, machining, welding, and other general maintenance activities.
Experience Preferred
  • Previous unsupervised experience in a post-secondary school environment.
KSA Required
  • General working knowledge of multiple maintenance trades in the areas of carpentry, masonry, locksmith, light construction, roofing, painting, welding, machining, and plumbing fields as typically found in commercial and industrial settings.
  • Ability to install and repair various mechanical, electronic locks, and card readers.
  • Ability to cut in and frame doors, all associated hardware, including handicap actuators and closers.
  • Ability to lead and mentor Tech I and Assistant level positions within the department.
  • Skilled in the general use of power and hand tools, including the care thereof.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of safety procedures coupled with an exemplary attitude in the application of such procedures to assure the safety of all faculty, staff, students, and visitors at all college locations
  • Competent in the use of computers/tablets/smartphones for use in communicating online and filling out work orders on CMMS software. Competent in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and the internet to conduct project or repair research.
KSA Preferred Department/Job Specific Requirements
  • Must be able to report to work during non-scheduled hours in the event of emergency call back, inclement weather events, etc.
  • Must have required training in the following: Personal Information Protection, Anti-Harassment, Ethics, Safety/Shooter on Campus, Reporting Requirements, Powered Work Platforms, Portable Ladders, Personal Protective Equipment, Machine Guarding, LP Gas Storage and Handling, Hand and Power Tools, Forklift/Industrial Vehicle Safety, Flammable & Combustible Storage, First Aid/CPR, Fall Protection and Scaffolding, Emergency Equipment, Emergency Action Plans, Crane/Lift/Hoist Safety, and Chemical Safety and other training that may be required as determined applicable
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle, including the possession of a valid North Carolina driver’s license accompanied by an acceptable driving record.
