Job Summary:

The Senior Windows Administrator is responsible for managing, maintaining, and optimizing Windows-based server environments to ensure high availability, security, and performance. This role involves advanced troubleshooting, system upgrades, automation, and collaboration with cross-functional IT teams to support business-critical applications and infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Server Management:
    • Install, configure, and maintain Windows Server environments (2016/2019/2022).
    • Manage Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and related services.
    • Perform system upgrades, patching, and performance tuning.
  • Security & Compliance:
    • Implement and enforce security best practices, including RBAC and system hardening.
    • Monitor and remediate vulnerabilities, ensuring compliance with organizational standards.
  • Automation & Scripting:
    • Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts for automation of administrative tasks.
    • Streamline processes for provisioning, monitoring, and reporting.
  • Monitoring & Troubleshooting:
    • Monitor system health and performance using tools like SCCM, Nagios, or SolarWinds.
    • Diagnose and resolve complex hardware, software, and network issues.
  • Backup & Disaster Recovery:
    • Configure and manage backup solutions and disaster recovery plans.
    • Test recovery procedures to ensure business continuity.
  • Collaboration & Documentation:
    • Work closely with network, storage, and application teams on infrastructure projects.
    • Maintain detailed documentation of configurations, processes, and policies.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • Experience: 8+ years in Windows system administration, with at least 5 years in a senior role.
  • Technical Expertise:
    • Windows Server (2016/2019/2022)
    • Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS/DHCP
    • PowerShell scripting and automation
    • Virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V)
    • SCCM, WSUS, and patch management
  • Certifications: Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE) or equivalent preferred.
  • Strong understanding of networking protocols, security principles, and disaster recovery strategies.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with cloud integration (Azure AD, hybrid environments).
  • Familiarity with ITIL processes and compliance frameworks.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills.
