Analyst

A Darien, CT based private credit fund (a subsidiary of Seaport Global) with a focus on asset-based and special situations lending, seeks an analyst to help underwrite and manage a portfolio of asset-based loans. The fund’s main focus is lending to specialty finance companies (consumer and small business lending), operators of big-ticket equipment (aircraft, machinery, etc.) and against esoteric assets (artwork, movie rights, trademarks and royalties). This is an entry/junior level position suitable to candidates with technical skills, acute attention to detail, and the ability to process and analyze large amounts of data. Knowledge of MS Excel, VBA and any database software a plus.  We seek highly motivated candidates who enjoy data-driven analysis, research, and problem solving. Candidates should be proactive, resourceful and have a positive attitude with the desire to learn.

Responsibilities

• Collateral monitoring for a portfolio of loans
• Preparing reports about credit risk exposure to borrowers
• Analyzing historical loan level performance data 
• Staying current on market trends with ongoing research
• Securitization and other quantitative modeling
• Drafting investment committee memoranda

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, math, accounting, economics, business, or other quantitative field; minor or 2nd major in a critical thinking discipline a plus
• 1-4 years of experience in data analysis, risk analysis, credit analysis, loan underwriting, consumer lending or similar
• Acute attention to detail and impeccable judgment
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work both collaboratively and independently
• Knowledge of ABS and/or MBS helpful
