Job Description

In this compelling leadership position, you will lead efforts on risk monitoring, forecasting and reviews for the organization, coordinate risk mitigation activities, and provide risk mitigation assistance to other groups applying knowledge of Single Family mortgage business and risk, and understanding of stress testing for financial institutions.

The Senior Director - Head of Book Portfolio Risk role will offer you the flexibility to make each day your own, while working alongside people who care so that you can deliver on the following responsibilities:

  • Review and forecast risks to Single Family business, collaborate with leadership to develop and lead initiatives to change and improve the forecast, monitoring, and identification process.
  • Provide innovative ideas to improve our process and functions to gain efficiency.
  • Propose actions to execute plans or decisions to avoid risks or mitigate their impact.
  • Oversee risk analysis, review findings, and assist leadership with developing solutions.
  • Direct and train teams and business groups on risk mitigation strategies and assist leadership with strategy development.

Qualifications

THE EXPERIENCE YOU BRING TO THE TEAM

Minimum Required Experience

  • 8 years relevant experience
  • Experience working in risk management function at financial institution
  • Understanding of stress test concepts and techniques for financial institutions
  • Adequate quantitative knowledge to understand quantitative credit risk models, their model rationale and applications

Desired Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent; Master’s degree or above preferred
  • Experience identifying and determining levels of mortgage risk and providing remediation for risk reduction
  • Risk assessment and management capabilities including evaluating and designing controls, conducting impact assessments, identifying gaps and remediating risk
  • Familiar with risk limit setting methods and process
  • Familiar with CECL framework and Basel regulatory capital
  • Track record for conducting independent, original research; able to manipulate data to perform sound analysis leading to decision making  
  • Able to manage project plans, resources, and people to ensure successful project completion
  • Collective capabilities for leadership, including leading teams, giving feedback, facilitating meetings, coaching and mentoring
  • Experience identifying and selecting strategic options, and identifying resources to meet the defined objectives
  • Experience helping an organization to plan and manage change in effort to meet strategic objectives
  • Must be able to work with individuals having a different functional expertise respectfully and cooperatively while working toward a common goal
  • Sound relationship management skills including managing and engaging stakeholders and building relationship networks
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills  
  • Skilled in Excel, PowerPoint, Tableau
  • Skilled in SQL, Python object-oriented programming
