About the role

Overview

The person appointed to this post will work in the Respiratory Physiotherapy Service of Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital (OLOLH) which operates in conjunction with the overall respiratory service. 

There are three Respiratory Consultants currently providing the Respiratory service in OLOL Hospital.  The person appointed will work as part of a team, under the governance of Respiratory Medicine.

 

Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital & Louth County Hospital Physiotherapy Service is an integrated service across Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital (OLOLH) and the Louth Hospital (LCH) with close links with Louth Primary Care Services.

 

Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital provides a variety of physiotherapy services including clinic-based outpatient services: Women’s Health, Lymphoedema, Paediatrics including Orthopaedic Paediatric Triage, Respiratory/ Pulmonary Rehab/ COPD Outreach /Oxygen clinic, MSK and fracture Clinics.

Other services include: ED (including OPAL) and AMAU, Orthopaedic Trauma, Neurology, Stroke (including ESD), Paediatrics, Women’s Health, Respiratory, Oncology, Mobility assessment and D/C.

Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital and Louth County Hospital are members of the Dublin North East Regional Health Area.

Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital provides Acute, Maternity, Gynaecology and Paediatric Care for the population of Louth, Meath and surrounding counties.

 

An out of hour’s emergency service and weekend service is provided and the post-holder will play an important role in coordinating this roster and the competency training of staff. 

 

A Panel may be formed from which future permanent, temporary or part time appointment may be made.

Statutory Registration, Professional Qualifications, Experience

Candidates for appointment must:

  • Be registered, or be eligible for registration, on the Physiotherapists Register maintained by the Physiotherapists Registration Board at CORU.

AND

  • Have three years full time (or an aggregrate of three years full time) post qualification clinical experience.

AND

  •  Have the requisite knowledge and ability (including a high standard of suitability and professional ability) for the proper discharge of the duties of the office.

AND

  • Provide proof of Statutory Registration on the Physiotherapists Register maintained by the Physiotherapists Registration Board at CORU before a contract of employment can be issued.

Annual registration

  • On appointment practitioners must maintain annual registration on the Physiotherapists Register maintained by the Physiotherapists Registration Board at CORU

AND

  • Practitioners must confirm annual registration with CORU to the HSE by way of the annual Patient Safety Assurance Certificate (PSAC).

Health

Candidates for and any person holding the office must be fully competent and capable of undertaking the duties attached to the office and be in a state of health such as would indicate a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service.

 

Character

Candidates for and any person holding the office must be of good character.
