About the role

Position Overview

In order to keep pace with the expanding needs and expectations of Apollo’s rapidly growing third party client business, Apollo has created its next company, Lyra Client Solutions. Lyra will follow a remarkable heritage of Apollo Platform Companies (e.g. Atlas, MidCap, Wheels Donlen). Lyra is a revenue generating company initially focused on delivering next generation client experiences for Apollo and its Institutional, Wealth, Family Office, Employee and Friends & Family clients. As Lyra’s platform expands over time, the company will also bring on additional third-parties and provide the same next generation client experience for non-affiliated general partners focused on the private markets space.

The Head of Human Capital for Lyra Client Solutions will serve as a trusted advisor and effective business partner to one of Apollo’s newest platform companies (with expanding employee base across the US and India). The key imperatives of the role will be to provide sound commercial advice and demonstrated thought leadership on a variety of talent and human capital matters, while maintaining an active focus on day-to-day execution and HC support. 

The successful candidate will need to forge strong, collaborative working relationships with many individuals throughout the company across the globe.  It is critical that this individual be experienced and comfortable in dealing with all aspects of recruiting, talent management, employee relations, performance, recruiting and career development processes (including reviews, training, leadership development, executive coaching, etc.) as well as general HC administration (legal documentation, local employment laws, etc.). Given the start-up and entrepreneurial culture of Lyra as a newly formed firm, this individual must be prepared to “roll up her/his sleeves”.

To be successful, The Head of Human Capital must demonstrate an ability to understand the nuances of a complex financial services firm and the nature of the role HC plays in that context.  Sophisticated thinking, leadership presence, high emotional intelligence and interpersonal effectiveness will be necessary to execute this role successfully and inspire the trust and credibility required for others to have confidence in his/her ability to provide prudent, insightful, and commercial guidance/perspective.

The firm expects this individual to make a multi-year commitment to this new role, bring fresh thinking to the company and add significant value in helping the firm attract, motivate, develop and retain industry-leading client service talent. 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide leverage and serve as an effective advisor to the firm’s leadership team and broader employee base.

  • Drive a wide range of human capital disciplines including recruiting, onboarding, employee relations, training and development, design of performance processes, compensation, and retention of talent. 

  • Triage ER situations as they arise, acting with the highest level of professionalism.

  • Manage recruitment activities at various levels of seniority, acting as a key interface to search firms and coordinating recruitment processes from its early stages through to job offers, the creation of offer letters, on-boarding, etc.

  • Identifying professional development initiatives, including design and delivery of appropriate training and coaching activities.

  • Manage/oversee global human capital initiatives (e.g. Europe, India), including set up of new local entities and ongoing day-to-day activities

  • Manage an outsourced PEO(s) to deliver services while designing for gaps in the service delivery model where work will need to be insourced.

  • Help drive business growth while building Lyra’s culture in partnership with leadership.

  • Take on additional responsibilities and/or special projects as the company grows and matures.

Qualifications & Experience

To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies to perform the essential functions of this position:

  • 10+ years HC experience; financial services background strongly preferred

  • Demonstrated ability to consult and build credibility with employees at all levels

  • Understanding of HC operations and infrastructure; Strongly preferred experience with entrepreneurial/”start up” environment

  • Solid working knowledge of global employment laws

  • Prior experience partnering with/managing global teams (preferably in the US, India and Europe or some combination)

  • Highly agile; works effectively and autonomously in fast-paced, often ambiguous operating environments and situations
