Description

This residential fellowship supports an early career scholar whose research project expands on the understanding of New York State, City, and Long Island History. The project must include a research plan based on the collections and resources of The New York Historical.

The ten-month fellowship will carry a stipend of $60,000, plus benefits; it begins September 2, 2026, and lasts through July 2, 2027.

Qualifications

Applicants must have earned their Ph.D. at least one year before the start of the fellowship.

Application requirements include:

• A two- to three-page proposal describing the theme of the research project and The New York Historical resources critical to the project
• A curriculum vitae
• A short writing sample of no more than 3,000 words or ten pages
• Three letters of recommendation
