ABOUT THE TEAM
The Air Dominance and Strike (AD&S) Electrical Engineering Team is responsible for developing high-reliability avionics, embedded processing, and power systems for Group 5 air vehicles and missile platforms. Working across hardware, software, and mission autonomy, the team delivers flight-critical electronics, PCB assemblies, and FPGA-based processing architectures that enable Anduril's next-generation autonomous air platforms to operate in complex and contested environments. AD&S Electrical Engineers drive end-to-end development, from system architecture and circuit design to verification, integration, and flight test, ensuring scalable, mission-ready solutions that meet the performance, reliability, and survivability demands of the U.S. Military and modern air warfare.
ABOUT THE JOB
We are looking for a FPGA Design & Verification Engineer to join our rapidly growing team in Costa Mesa, CA. In this role, you will be responsible for the end-to-end design and verification of projects on the Xilinx SOC/FPGA platforms and helping to establish robust design processes. This will require expertise in SystemVerilog, FPGA, and Xilinx. If you are someone who has supported rapid avionics development, then this role is for you.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Rapidly develop, test, and implement FPGA designs using Xilinx SoCs/FPGAs
- Integrate third-party vendors IP, as necessary
- Perform digital circuit design, SystemVerilog coding, FPGA image generation (synthesis, implementation, STA, constraints), simulation verification, and HW validation
- Participate in entire design life cycle: from requirements and concept, through design and hands on testing/board bring up
- Implement a variety of signal types such as high speed comms (ethernet, serial) and signal processing (analog, digital)
- Ensure designs meet all relevant safety and performance standards, with traceability back to top-level system requirements, as necessary
- Investigate and resolve bugs found during hands on testing (at HDL level and system level)
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
- 5+ years of experience in HDL and FPGA hardware design, experience with Xilinx SoC is highly preferred
- Familiarity with design software like Vivado (preferred) or Quartus
- Proficient in SystemVerilog
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, challenging environment
- Excellent problem-solving and organizational skills
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Experience in SoC hardware bring-up, preferably on ARM-based systems
- Eligible to obtain and hold a U.S. Top Secret security clearance
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Understanding of DO-254, DO-178C, MIL-STD-1553, MIL-STD-461 and relevant avionics design standards for UAS
- Good knowledge of air vehicle systems
- Working knowledge of designing for safety-critical functions
- Strong Matlab skills and experience with DSP and Comms toolbox
- FPGA interfaces and high speed busses
- Experience with RF Systems on a Chip (SoC)
- Exposure to Wireless comms (Bluetooth LE, 3G/4G LTE/5G, Wi-Fi, IEEE802.15.4, LoRa, etc.)
- Low-level firmware (C/C++) development for bring-up and test
