Duties

  • Attend the Supreme Courts and courts of summary jurisdiction as at all locations in the state and assist in the effective presentation of criminal prosecutions.
  • Co-ordinate the briefing of witnesses, their attendance at court and organise the availability of exhibits in court in support of criminal prosecutions.
  • Compile, vet, and file documents such as indictments, notices, Crown Papers and arrange service on defence counsel and defendant.
  • Undertake a wide range of clerical and administrative duties to support the efficient and effective delivery of services by the Director of Public Prosecutions including opening and closing files, archiving files, coordinating video links, assisting witnesses to complete witness expenses claims, and binding documents.
  • Prepare reports on the results of criminal cases and arrange for the preparation of reports and other documentation required by the Supreme Court and the DPP
  • Maintain database by ensuring timely and accurate data.
  • Undertake other appropriate administrative duties as assigned.

Pre-employment Checks

The Head of State Service has determined that the person nominated for this vacancy is to satisfy a pre-employment check before taking up the appointment, promotion or transfer.

The following checks are to be conducted:

  1. Pre-employment (National Police Record) checks for: Arson and fire setting, violent crimes and crimes against the person, sex-related offences, drug and alcohol related offences, crimes involving dishonesty, deception and/or conspiracy, making false declarations, malicious damage and destruction to property, serious traffic offences, crimes against public order or relating to the Administration of Law and Justice, Executive or the Legislative Power.
  2. Disciplinary action in previous employment.
  3. Identification check.

Desirable Requirements

  • Certificate III or IV in Business Administration or Business (Legal Services).
  • Current Driver's Licence.
