Senior Academic Applications Analyst (System Application Analyst, Sr)

Department Overview

The mission of the Information Technology Group (ITG) is to develop, implement and maintain technology-based services and solutions enabling OHSU to effectively manage information to accomplish its missions.

Function/Duties of Position

This functional/technical position is responsible for providing system support for the development, maintenance and enhancement of enterprise academic systems, including, but not limited to, the Ellucian Banner General, Student, Accounts Receivable, Financial Aid, Self-Service Banner, and DegreeWorks Systems. This position is responsible for providing excellent customer services in achieving the following objectives:

Design or assist in the selection and installation of complex academic administrative systems.

Be the primary analytical support for assigned departments and their systems.

Work with academic departments to evaluate and document their requirements, review and manage their projects.

Develop a thorough understanding of academic departments’ business functions.

Monitor information technology output for quality, accuracy, and timeliness.

Produce documentation to facilitate the long-term maintenance of processes and systems.

This position is not a developer or technical administrator. This role works with technical resources in ITG and functional resources in the university to support the OHSU’s academic community with their technology needs and works to enhance functionality of academic applications. The position requires extensive coordination and interaction with expert users. The incumbent is responsible for developing robust systems and integrations which meet customer needs while working within established standards, policies, and best practices.

Required Qualifications

Education:

Master’s degree in computer science, a related field, or a clinical field and four years work related experience in the information technology field or a combination of clinical or operational healthcare environments; OR

 

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, a related field, or a clinical field and six years work related experience in the information technology field or a combination of clinical or operational healthcare environments; OR

 

Associate degree in computer science, a related field, or a clinical field and seven years work related experience in the information technology field or a combination of clinical or operational healthcare environments; OR

 

Eight years work related experience in the information technology field or a combination of clinical or operational healthcare environments; OR

 

Equivalent combination of education and experience where one year of experience will be substituted for an Associate’s degree and two years of experience will be substituted for a Bachelor’s degree.

 

Experience:

• Four years relevant experience & demonstrated proficiency with the following products at a complex academic institution:
  • Ellucian Banner modules: Financial Aid, Student, General, SSB (Student and Faculty), Student AR
• Demonstrated proficiency with a degree auditing solution using data from the Banner system.
• Demonstrated proficiency with a reporting solution using data from the Banner system.
• Demonstrated proficiency in using Ellucian’s Customer Support Center to log cases and research information.
• Three years’ experience using PMI (Project Management Institute) based project management methodology with demonstrated success.
• Demonstrated relevant experience working closely with software vendors to successfully collaborate and implement new software.
• Three years demonstrated relevant experience conducting requirements gathering and scoping of complex projects with multiple customer groups.
• Three years demonstrated relevant experience learning new software, reading complex technical documentation, and providing training to end users.
• Four years demonstrated relevant experience creating role appropriate documentation for end users of custom functionality developed by the IT team.
• Demonstrated relevant experience coordinating and facilitating project steering committee work.
