Senior Cloud DevOps Engineer
The Senior Cloud Engineer helps architect solutions to run the PTC portfolio in public and private clouds. This position is to develop and test running PTC’s products in government public and private cloud environments. This position will work closely with the Federal business and will be required to acquire security level clearance. The applicant must be US citizen.
The Engineer is responsible for building and maintaining the reference architecture for how products are deployed to the cloud. The position is also responsible for coordinating with R&D and cloud automation team to develop deployment automation.
Employees at this level are helping to advance and modernize PTC’s cloud competencies. A well-rounded technical/functional skill set, and deep knowledge of public and private cloud capabilities are a must.
Your Team:
Your team is in the United States mostly in the Eastern time zone. The team is responsible for cloud infrastructure security, design, and support, including platform level shared services, resource provisioning (Infrastructure-as-code), networking, monitoring and alerting services.
Day-To-Day:
- Design and support cloud infrastructure with a strong focus on security, automation, and testing
- Collaborate with diverse product teams to engineer cloud infrastructure
- Continual re-evaluation of existing stack and infrastructure to maintain optimal performance, availability, security, and cost optimization
- Build Deployment Automation to realize the chosen cloud architecture.
- Develop training and handoff material for supporting cloud functions (Operations, NOC, Incident Management, etc…)
- Collaborate with portfolio team to bring new capabilities to the cloud offerings.
- Evaluate and provide recommendations for unique customer scenarios
- Provide rotational support for production systems
Required Skills and Knowledge:
- Must be a US citizen.
- Must have or be able to obtain Security level clearance within 15 months of hire date.
- Minimum 5 years hands-on experience
- Ability to understand and build high level cloud architectures.
- Willingness to learn and experiment with cutting edge cloud technologies.
- Coding experience using Bash/Python/Ruby
- Experience with at least one configuration management tool (Ansible, Chef, Puppet, Salt).
- Hands on experience with a public cloud provider (Azure preferred)
Preferred Experience:
- Deployment technologies: Terraform (preferred), SaltStack (preferred), Chef, Ansible, Puppet
- Familiar with ACAS, Tenable Security Center, Server Security Hardening Process, D.I.S.A. STIGS, PKI/CAC Cards, McAfee EPO, Fedramp.
- Basic command line Linux Skills
- Single Sign On (PingFederate (preferred).
- Load Balancing: Azure App Gateway, AWS ELB/ALB, nginx, haproxy
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Engineering / Computer Science
- Will consider non-degree candidates with relevant work experiences
- 5 years of software industry experience
- 1 year of public cloud experience
