About the role

Description

The Renaissance School of Medicine seeks a mid-career, highly accomplished scholar specializing in feminist ethics of care.  The selected candidate will join a dynamic, real-world clinical and academic environment that offers extensive opportunities to collaborate with healthcare providers across diverse clinical departments.  This role supports engagement with both professional caregiving and the lived, familial experiences of care.

The Center holds a national reputation as a leader in the philosophical and empirical study of caregiving among vulnerable populations.  Areas of focus include aging populations experiencing cognitive and physical decline, as well as neonatal and perinatal care involving at-risk newborns.  The ideal candidate will bring exceptional expertise in the moral philosophy of care, with particular strength in traditions such as relational feminism and the Black womanist tradition.

The successful candidate will contribute to teaching at both the medical and graduate levels, with opportunities to engage students across the broader university, including the School of Social Welfare.  Graduate instruction will be part of the MA program in Medical Humanities, Compassionate Care, and Bioethics.

We are seeking an intellectually creative and collaborative scholar with a strong commitment to research and publication in philosophy, medical humanities, and related fields.  The candidate should demonstrate enthusiasm for producing impactful scholarship in leading journals and academic presses.

The position offers substantial support for public engagement and community-facing initiatives aimed at advancing a broader cultural commitment to ethics of care and shared humanity.
