Job Summary

This position provides senior-level leadership and operational oversight for the university’s procurement function. The role supports compliance with the state of Illinois procurement laws while ensuring efficient, transparent, and customer-focused procurement services.
The Associate Director of Procurement oversees daily procurement operations, supervises professional purchasing staff, manages complex and high-risk procurements, and serves as a key advisor to campus leadership, legal counsel, finance, and audit stakeholders.

Salary Rate / Pay Rate

$8,167 - $9,167 per month

Required Qualifications

1. Bachelor’s (or higher) degree in business administration, public administration, supply chain management, finance, management or a related field.
2. Five (5) or more years of full time (or part-time equivalent) progressively responsible procurement or contracting experience with State of Illinois code.
3. Two (2) years of full time (or part-time equivalent) leadership experience.
4. Demonstrated experience with public-sector or higher-education procurement.

Preferred Qualifications

1. Master’s degree in a related field.
2. Certified Public Procurement Officer (CPPO), Certified Professional Public Buyer (CPPB) or similar credentials.
3. Experience with e-procurement or ERP systems (e.g., Unimarket, Banner, Workday, Jaggaer)

Work Hours

Core work hours: Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Functional Expectations

Must be able to complete the following with or without a reasonable accommodation:
1. Remain at a workstation for extended periods.
2. Effectively communicate on a daily basis.
3. Move about in various locations across campus as needed to complete day-to-day work.
