Job Summary / Purpose
We are seeking a proactive, data‑driven Accountant to support and enhance Accounts Payable operations within the Shared Services organization. This role is ideal for someone who is comfortable working with large datasets, understands modern AI‑enabled tools or is eager to learn them, and enjoys improving processes through automation and data analysis. The Accountant I–II will serve as a key contributor to operational accuracy, compliance, and continuous improvement across multiple AP programs and financial workflows.
Key Responsibilities
• Act as backup for daily pay cycle processing, including validations, exception research, and issue resolution.
• Oversee assigned Accounts Payable programs, ensuring proper controls, user support, policy alignment, and process consistency.
• Track and monitor key AP performance indicators (KPIs), generate insights, and recommend improvements based on trends and data.
• Perform SOX controls with high attention to detail and documentation accuracy.
• Create, maintain, and update process documentation and standard operating procedures.
• Conduct data analysis to identify trends, exceptions, and improvement opportunities across AP activities.
• Build dashboards, metrics, and insights using tools such as Power BI to support decision‑making and operational visibility.
• Evaluate and implement automation and AI‑enabled tools to streamline workflows and reduce manual effort.
• Participate in system testing for enhancements, upgrades, and AP‑related projects.
• Support continuous‑improvement initiatives by proposing and implementing process efficiencies.
Minimum Education Requirements
• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field, or equivalent work experience.
Experience Requirements
• Accountant I: 1–2 years of accounting experience
• Accountant II: 3+ years of accounting experience
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
• Strong analytical skills and comfort working with large datasets
• Understanding of accounting principles, internal controls, and financial processes
• Ability to use or willingness to learn AI‑enabled tools, automation platforms, and other modern technologies
• Interest in understanding and applying AI concepts to improve workflows, or eagerness to develop this skill set
• Experience with data tools such as Power BI, advanced Excel, or similar platforms
• Strong documentation and communication skills
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively
• Commitment to continuous improvement and process optimization
• Problem‑solving mindset with the ability to diagnose issues and recommend solutions
• Experience with PeopleSoft Financials (preferred)
Desired Qualifications
• Experience in Accounts Payable or Shared Services
• Experience with workflow automation or AI‑assisted tools
• Professional certifications such as CPA or progress toward CPA (preferred)
