Purpose
Manage operations of the General and Inorganic Chemistry Teaching Lab's stockroom.
Responsibilities
Manage operation of the General & Inorganic Chemistry Teaching Lab Stockroom including the procurement, preparation, and distribution of reagents, supplies, and equipment.
Ensure the General & Inorganic Chemistry Teaching Laboratories are ready for instruction, including: setting up any necessary reagents, supplies, and equipment; coordinating instrument, equipment, and facilities related maintenance and repair; and adhering to cleanliness standards. In coordination with the General Chemistry and Inorganic Chemistry Lab Directors, update and tailor the teaching laboratories to meet the needs presented by curriculum changes.
Follow and ensure compliance with proper safety procedures and protocols. Train teaching assistants (TAs), staff, and student workers in proper safety procedures and protocols. Maintain security of all chemical areas.
Supervise student workers in the set up of teaching labs.
Maintain an inventory of chemicals, equipment, and supplies in the stockroom, storage areas, and teaching laboratories. Determine and assess student fees for glassware breakage.
Assist with training of Teaching Assistants (TAs) in use of the instruments and equipment.
Coordinate participation in the lab coat program.
Oversee disposal of laboratory waste generated in the teaching laboratories and stockroom.
Required Qualifications
High school diploma/GED with four years of relevant experience OR Bachelor's degree and proof of relevant college coursework, such as General Chemistry lab and Organic Chemistry Lab. Demonstrated ability to work without direct supervision. Able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. Effective communication skills, both written and oral. Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Preferred Qualifications
Two or more years' experience working in a chemical stockroom or laboratory. Experience working in a teaching lab environment.
Salary Range
$55,000 + depending on qualifications

Uniforms and/or personal protection equipment (furnished).
May work around chemical fumes.
May work around standard office conditions.
May work around chemicals.
Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation. Use of manual dexterity.
Work Shift
Monday-Thursday, 7:00am-5:30pm
