Job summary
This is an exciting role front of house, to provide a first class reception service, acting as the first point of contact for patients, carers and relatives.
To maintain the efficient and effective management of the Endoscopy Reception desk ensuring that patient care is delivered with courtesy and respect, within local and national time frames.
The role requires someone who has a great level of attention to detail and good organisational skills for managing in a busy environment. Excellent communication and customer service skills are essential for dealing with colleagues, patients and families.
This is a part time position working 10 hours per week, working closely with all other staff members within the Endoscopy department, and to work flexibly between Musgrove Park Hospital (MPH) and Bridgwater Community Hospital (BCH) as required.
The needs of the service user will be the utmost priority. The principle of high quality customer care is at the heart of this role.
Main duties, tasks & skills required
The post holder will be required to admit/discharge and transfer patients, answer telephone enquiries, create appointments and arrange transport for patients.
The post holder will be responsible for ensuring the reception area is tidy & well organised and that office supplies and stationary are ordered and kept stocked up.

Qualifications
Essential
Good standard of education, both in literacy and numeracy.
Evidence of a good standard of Literacy / English language skills
Experience
Essential
Keyboard skills necessary to work with computer systems.
Ability to work in a busy and often demanding area where duties required are constantly changing.
Dealing with patients/general public.
Desirable
Knowledge of Hospital computer systems, e.g. Scorpio, EPRO, Maxims.
Additional Criteria
Essential
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Organise the daily workload of the reception area.
Understanding the importance of patient confidentiality.
Time management skills
Ability to juggle tasks as there are constant interruptions.
