The expected ENTRY pay range for this position based on experience and equity within the Judicial Branch is $23.00 to $24.00.

This position is non-exempt under the FLSA.

About the Position

The Security Specialist or Inspector holds varying responsibilities and assignments pertaining to the operations of the department including, but not limited to, physical security assessments of court facilities, court grounds and residences.  Assists with emergency services planning, building evacuations, training, and the execution of the Judicial Branch Emergency Evacuation Teams Program.  Assesses tactics, techniques and procedures of security operations to ensure staff are compliant with administrative orders, policies and security procedures.  In addition, manages the daily security concerns calendar program, assist with drafting and distribute Informational Flyers or Be On the Look Out (BOLOs) flyers.  Monitors the status of security concern cases using the JBSD Threat Management Database and other duties as assigned by the Security Director or designee.

Position Qualifications

Education:

• High school diploma or GED

Experience:

• Two (2) years of security, law enforcement, military, or public safety experience

OR

Combined education and experience qualifications:

• Experience working in detention or corrections within a Federal, State, County or local government may substitute for the experience requirement on a year for year basis

Our Preferred Candidate has:

• Post-secondary education in Security Management, Physical Security Assessment, Conducting Inspections or related field 
• Five (5) years of advanced security related experience within a criminal justice system, security industry, corrections, law enforcement or military police environment
• Prior experience as an instructor in the security industry

Other Requirements:

• Ability to obtain CPR, AED and First Aid certification within six (6) months of employment
• Ability to obtain defensive weapons tactics certification within six (6) months of employment
• Possess and maintain a valid Arizona driver’s license

Knowledge, skills, and abilities:

Knowledge of:

• Principles, practices, and techniques used in court security, including security awareness
• State laws, statutes, department post, general orders, court orders, policies, and procedures, including rights of citizens, search and seizure rules, and rules of evidence 

Skill in:

• The safe handling and use of firearms
• Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships 
• Preparing clear and concise records, reports, correspondence, and other written materials
