Overview
We are looking for a diligent and highly motivated individual to join the growing Cypress tax department. The Senior Tax Associate will report directly to the Senior Tax Manager and will be primarily focused on meeting the Company’s tax compliance and reporting needs as well as assisting in development opportunities. The ideal candidate is a team player who has experience with tax return preparation, tax provision, a strong understanding of common tax laws and regulations, and knowledgeable in accounting principles.
Responsibilities
- Assist with coordinating and ensuring the timely filing of the Company’s federal, state and local income tax returns, including reviewing the workpapers prepared by external advisors
- Prepare federal and state quarterly estimated tax payments
- Assist in preparation and review of HLBV calculations
- Compile supporting financial statements and documents
- Assist with tax research projects and preparing memos
- Assist in the resolution of federal, state and local tax notices and audits
- Assist with other tax compliance and reporting projects as needed
- Maintain, document, and develop income tax related internal controls
- Identify and implement best practice process improvements across the tax function
- Perform other duties as requested by management
Education & Experience Required
- BS in Accounting or Tax, MS in Tax is a plus
- CPA license strongly preferred
- Minimum 2-3 years of relevant tax experience with large corporate or public accounting firm
- Big4 experience strongly preferred
- Solar or other renewable energy experience is a plus
- Must be detail oriented, resourceful and organized
- Ability to multi-task and work in tight time frames and deadlines
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Must be a self-starter who handles multiple projects with competing priorities with minimal supervision
- People management and development experience

- Effectively communicates with regulatory agencies, tax reviewers, state, local, independent auditors, attorneys, peers and all levels of corporate management

Location: The preferred location for this role is one of our office locations: Washington, DC. Our team operates on a hybrid schedule, with in-office schedule of three days per week.
Compensation: The salary range for the position is $120,000-$135,000 plus bonus and benefits. Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location.
