Project Overview:

Thacker Pass is the largest known lithium resource in the United States. Once complete, the mine and processing facilities will produce more lithium carbonate than any other facility in the United States by far – enough to power 1 million electric vehicles per year.

As the EPCM contractor for Lithium Americas, Bechtel is responsible for managing and integrating the efforts of a team contractors engineering and building the facility. We are also managing procurement of about $1 Billion in goods and services.

Earth work began in 2023 and design and procurement of long-lead equipment is underway.

The project is located in the high desert and wide-open spaces of north-central Nevada about 25 miles from the Oregon border, 1 hour northwest of Winnemucca, Nevada and 3 hours northeast of Reno.

Planned with sustainability and the environment in mind, the facility will use its excess process heat to generate electricity and will recycle process water up to seven times. Once the second phase of the project is complete, Thacker Pass will produce more than 16 times the current U.S. output of lithium.

Job Summary:

In this role, you will be responsible for field engineering specialization and expertise in work planning and packaging, material management, quantity verification and validation, safety and quality control, technical inspection and testing knowledge, and subcontract coordination for the Sulfuric Acid Plant (SAP). You will ensure that field engineering activities operate safely, are complete, and conform to quality standards and project requirements. #LI-NP1

 

Major Responsibilities:

• Performs the duties of a lead engineer the SAP area, coordinating and directing a variety of disciplines related to the operation of SAP area. 
• Proactively engages with their teams’ development through CPM, competency development/assessment and feedback 
• Leads construction engineers in a broad range of construction engineering work within a specific engineering discipline.  
• Coordinates with design on constructability issues.  
• Reviews material receiving reports and warehousing to assure delivery of correct materials.  
• Possesses responsibility for quantity take-off, control, reporting and forecasting.  
• Ensures zero accident philosophy and requirements are implemented and adhered to by craft and others when in the operational area, and tools and equipment are in safe condition and operated safely. 
• Possesses responsibility for coordinating between Construction and Startup to ensure the various system walkdowns are performed, interfacing with the Startup Specialist as required to support component/system turnover and assuming re
