Position Overview

As a versatile front end developer on the design system team, you will play a vital role in the realization of a new UI foundation for our entire product platform. Our team has ambitious goals and we need your help to design, build and maintain the front end libraries for our next generation design system and the tooling around them.  

Together with a cross-functional team of engineers, designers, technical writers, and product managers, you will bring Diligent’s vision of modern governance, risk, and compliance to our customers and enable them to make more responsible, equitable, data-driven decisions. 

Key Responsibilities

• Team up with product designers to take our design system to an exciting new level of sophistication and maturity.
• Partner closely with engineers across various product teams to develop abstractions and tools that enable the rapid development of high-quality web and mobile interfaces.
• Own the front-end tooling, automation, and deployment pipelines for the design system.
• Contribute to themes for UI component libraries, demo apps, templates and code examples, custom React, Angular and Web Components, automated tests, and developer documentation.
• Provide guidance, mentorship, and support to engineering teams on topics like front-end coding practices, design patterns, and web application architecture.
• Conduct research and produce recommendations that will shape both the end user experience and the developer experience.
• Explore new tools and technologies that can advance our design system and share this knowledge with other engineers.

Required Experiences/Skills

• You have 5+ years of professional experience building web applications in an agile environment and expert understanding of ES6/TypeScript, React and/or Angular, and CSS.
• You have experience with complete front end toolchains including package management, bundling, monorepo management, and automated testing.
• You are familiar with CI/CD tools like GitHub Actions, AWS CodeBuild, Jenkins, etc.
• You have experience with UI component libraries like Material UI, Angular Material, Ant Design, Chakra, or proprietary solutions.
• You love to automate and streamline processes and you enjoy tinkering and experimenting.
• You are excited about improving the experience of developers and want to understand the conditions that allow them to thrive.
• You are passionate about crafting responsive, cross-browser compatible, standards compliant, accessible user interfaces.
• You are an enthusiastic collaborator who listens respectfully and voices their opinion with conviction.
• You take ownership of your work – making decisions, defending them soundly, and holding yourself responsible for the outcomes they produce.
