Examples of Work
Completes the Utilization Review (UR) process for all in-state and out of state Nebraska Medicaid recipients in Intermediate Care Facilities for Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities (ICF/IIDs). All Medicaid recipients are reviewed for continued funding two times per year. The purpose of the UR process is to provide consistent direction to ensure ICF/IID facilities are (1) compliant with Nebraska and Federal Medicaid requirements in providing services to individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities (ID/DD) and/or related conditions (RC) and (2) to determine whether Nebraska Medicaid recipients residing in ICF/IID facilities continue to meet ICF/IID level of care.
Qualifications/Requirements
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent coursework/training, in public administration, social/behavioral sciences, healthcare, human services or other program related field. Professional experience working in a human/social service or health care agency with responsibility for planning or evaluation services, programs or operational policies and practices may substitute in lieu of the educational requirement.
Other: The staff filling this position MUST be a qualified QIDP (Qualified Intellectual Disabilities Professional). This qualification requires a bachelors degree in psychology, sociology, human services, special education or related field. This also requires one year of experience working as a direct care provider for individuals with intellectual Disabilities. Candidates that do not meet this requirement will not be considered.
Travel is rare, but may be required.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Ability to analyze individual program plans, medical records, etc. in order to determine a resident meets ICF/IID level of care. The candidate must have knowledge of federal and state regulations for ICF/IIDs. Ability to work as a team member in a specialized unit within Medicaid. Ability to build relationships with providers and give clear communication and directives. Time management skills.
