Requirements and Nature of Work:

Nature of Work

Conducting weekly seminars;

Demonstrating effective business presentation skills;

Method approach;

Attending and participating in weekly teaching assistant meetings to review course materials, assignments, discuss

teaching problems, handling of exercises, etc. (about 2 hours/week for meeting and labs preparation);

Evaluating weekly group case presentations and providing written feedback on these presentations in a timely fashion

to the students involved;

Evaluating and providing written feedback on weekly case executive summaries handed in by each student in the Seminar;

Leading discussions on relevant business topics as required on a weekly basis, using the management cases as a basis for

discussion;

Demonstrating a competence in and an understanding of current business problems in the Canadian business environment;

Leading all discussions in the Seminar;

Participating in team-building exercises during the semester.

Minimum qualifications

Please note that this position is joint with ADM1100

Minimum C.G.P.A. of 7.0, 8.0 preferred

Minimum grade of A - in ADM 1300 or its equivalent;

Must have a minimum of two years' business education at the post-secondary level, emphasizing the principles of

management, of business ownership, and general finance and accounting practices;

A thorough working knowledge of solving a business case;

Experience in analyzing business case 

Able to integrate and apply concepts of business and management in practical ways, including using case studies, in working with first year BCom students

Be comfortable and confident in leading and interacting with a class of first year students

A constructive, helpful, and inclusive attitude and approach with the community of first year students

Understand and read in English and write and teach in English with confidence -- all at a very high level of fluency;

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;

A good understanding of basic Canadian accounting and financial management analysis skills; 

Successful completion and comprehension of the material of an introductory level business management course in 

a Canadian environment;

A good knowledge of current business issues and approaches to management;

Experience with online course delivery considered an asset

Experience with online videoconferencing environment considered an asset (ex. Microsoft Teams)

Must be located in Ottawa for the entire duration of the course (with the exception of official University holidays), including through the grading of the final exam and calculation of final grades by the professor.

Comments

Preference will be given to higher grades;

Preference will be given to candidates who have previously been teaching assistants or markers for ADM1300 (or equivalent)

Preference will also be given to students who have participated in projects, contests and competitions at the university
