Provides audiology patient examination, evaluation, intervention, documentation, parent/caregiver education, communication and coordination of care with medical/clinical staff and outside agencies as appropriate within the guidelines designated by the department and Nemours' policies and procedures.
- Additional miscellaneous duties and responsibilities, as may be assigned from time to time by employee’s supervisor.
- Based on programmatic need and licensure requirements may be required to provide inpatient/outpatient coverage at various locations associated with Nemours.
- Demonstrates proficiency in the care of all ages: pediatrics, adolescents, and adults;
- Able to provide audiology services to a variety of patient types with recognition of his/her own limitations while seeking appropriate mentorship as needed.
- Completes timely documentation as required by departmental policy #7980.3.3, Joint Commission, and departmental standards.
- Attends meetings related to patient treatment and contributes to discussion as an interdisciplinary team member.
- Consults with other services, families, and outside agencies to recommend durable medical equipment (Hearing aids, cochlear implants, other assistive technology, etc), home/school modifications and appropriate follow up for further diagnostic testing and care.
- Maintains knowledge of and familiarity with insurance referral/authorization process and documentation requirements related to therapy services.
- Completes all mandatory training which may include, but not limited to safety, infection control, corporate compliance, HIPAA, bioterrorism, CPR and program specific respiratory training.
- Participates in triage and coverage planning as necessary to meet patient care and departmental needs.
- When required by assignment, participates in weekend and/or evening hours to ensure coverage as dictated by business needs.
- Team Work: Participates in conflict identification and resolution. Works cooperatively on a multidisciplinary, single-discipline, program-specific, and specialty teams. Assists in the maintenance of department space and equipment.
- Professional Development: Independently seeks to expand clinical knowledge and evidence-based practice through literature reviews, in-services, courses, and mentorships. Review new clinical tools, review discipline-specific competencies, and provide input on new diagnostic or intervention strategies to ensure evidence-based and current practices. Generates and disseminates clinical evidence-based knowledge within specialty areas on a national and regional level. Attends audiology and otolaryngology meetings as scheduled.
Doctor of Audiology (AuD) degree preferred. Individuals with a Master's Degree will be considered if existing FL license is held.
Must hold a primary license (FL)
BLS certification Basic Life Support (within 6 months of date of hire)
Member of professional specialty organizations (ASHA, AAA, etc.) preferred.
