The Larimer County Sheriff's Office is seeking experienced P.O.S.T. Certified Officers to join our team! We are hiring certified officers with one to three years or more (1-3+ years) of patrol experience. This is a lateral selection process with the possibility of starting at Step 3 of our compensation plan.

*Starting pay range for this position is $39.65 - $43.71 per hour, as determined by level of experience.

Examples of duties

What you'll be doingProvide law enforcement duties, including protection of citizens and crime prevention, while maintaining security and preserving order. You may perform duties of the Deputy Non-Certified if assigned to the jail. 
  • Effectively communicate to provide information, direction, mediations, and de-escalate situations and resolve conflicts.
  • Determine when there is reasonable suspicion to detain when probable cause exists to search and arrest, and when appropriate force may be used and to what degree.
  • Subdue resisting suspects using approved techniques of arrest control, defensive tactics, and weapons; resort to the use of hands, feet and other approved weapons in defense of self or others.
  • Purse fleeing suspects.
  • Testify and attend court and speak in other formal settings as necessary.
  • Read, comprehend, prepare, and process legal and non-legal documents.
