JOB SUMMARY/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:  The Senior Curriculum Coordinator coordinates the Geriatric/Palliative and Capstone courses for fourth-year medical students and serves as the primary liaison for students, faculty, and administration. This position coordinates clinical onboarding, away rotations and visiting students, and affiliation agreements processing ensuring all necessary requirements and agreements in compliance with LCME accreditation standards.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Coordinates implementation of the required Geriatric/Palliative course, Capstone course, and elective Heartstrings course for all fourth-year medical students at all campuses (currently Memphis, Chattanooga, and Knoxville) under the direction of the Course Director.
  2. Serves as first-contact liaison to students, faculty, and school administration for any issues or questions related to the course.
  3. Plans and coordinates orientations, assembles/distributes information and syllabus, sets up Zoom meetings, presents information with the Course Director, and provides students with reading assignments/quizzes.
  4. Manages scheduling of student clinical/hospital assignments, ensures computer training/hospital ID badges are provided.
  5. Uploads schedules info/grades via learning management system (currently eMedley). Troubleshoots system issues with students/faculty.
  6. Manages, assigns, tracks, and records grades while meeting LCME deadlines; submits final grades through Banner.
  7. Advises students (or arrange for the Course Director to advise) when issues arise (professionalism issues, personal issues, etc.) and respond to student questions/concerns about specialties, procedures, final grades, etc., referring them to the Course Director as needed.
  8. Serves as AAMC Visiting Student Learning Opportunities (VSLO) system administrator. Provides training for university personnel.
  9. Verifies eligibility compliance for immunizations, BLS, board exams, background checks, professional liability limits, drug screens, and policy acknowledgments.
  10. Maintains a database of student placements and visiting students for annual reporting.
  11. Schedules clinical onboarding to include mask fit testing, TB skin test, and drug screenings.
  12. Performs other related duties as assigned.
 

Qualifications

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:  

 EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree. (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED)

 EXPERIENCE: Three (3) years of related experience; OR a combination of education and experience to equal seven (7) years. (Experience in course management, instruction, or curriculum in a health-related discipline preferred).
