About the role

A postdoctoral research associate position is available in the lab of Dr. Fernando C. Alsina in the Center for Pediatric Neurological Disease Research (CPNDR) and the Department of Cell & Molecular Biology (CMB) at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Memphis, TN.

We are looking for highly talented, self-motivated, independent and collaborative individuals to investigate the molecular and cellular mechanisms that drive neural differentiation and maturation during brain development and disease, focusing on novel concepts of mRNA and cytoskeletal regulation. Please see Alsina FC, et al. 2024, as a reference. In particular, the candidate will utilize mouse and human organoid models, neural primary cultures and cell lines, fluorescence microscopy and live-cell imaging, omics approaches, and molecular and biochemical assays. Experience in any of these areas and techniques or related is preferred, but not required. Scientists from all backgrounds are encouraged to apply.

Minimum Experience and Key Responsibilities:

The successful candidate must hold a Ph.D. degree in Biomedical Sciences, Biological Sciences or related disciplines, and have experience performing experiments and reporting results. The selected candidate will perform experiments and develop their research using in vivo and in vitro assays. High level of scientific rigor and commitment are required.
