Position Overview:
As part of the talented Engineering team, you will provide leadership to Assembly Manufacturing Engineers, mentoring new team members and coordinating cross-departmental activities. This role supports production processes, develops and maintains equipment and procedures, and drives continuous improvement using Lean Manufacturing principles. The position aligns with Mercury’s goals in Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery, and Productivity, and collaborates across functions to implement strategic improvements.

Essential Functions:
- Supervise and mentor Manufacturing Engineers, conduct performance reviews and career planning
- Develop and implement best practices across assembly operations
- Lead projects for new product launches and process improvements
- Analyze production data and troubleshoot process/equipment issues
- Apply Lean tools to support safety, quality, delivery, and productivity goals
- Maintain process documentation and support ergonomic and safety initiatives
- Support new product development with efficient production systems
- Design layouts using CAD for optimal workflow
- Collaborate with internal/external customers and suppliers to resolve issues
- Develop equipment specs, qualify processes, and support deployment
- Liaise with Engineering and Program Management to meet business goals
- Serve as subject matter expert on key processes
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Engineering Manager
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and make independent technical decisions
- Proficient in Lean, SPC, CAD, and MS Office tools
- Knowledge of tooling, fixtures, and manufacturing systems
- Skilled in data analysis, blueprint reading, and process documentation
- Experience with quality systems and capital project management
- Ability to lead cross-functional teams and implement strategic goals
- Familiarity with PFMEA, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement tools
- Green Belt or Black Belt certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Self-motivated with minimal supervision required

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Manufacturing Engineering (or equivalent Engineering degree) is required
- Minimum 4 – 6 years relevant work experience
- Extensive working knowledge and understanding of diverse manufacturing operations
- Proficient in lean manufacturing tools and strategies, and process improvement methodologies
- Strong proficiency in MS Office applications
- Knowledge of AutoCAD or equivalent 2D drafting software is desired
- Basic understanding of cost accounting concepts, techniques, and principles
- Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and documents
Preferred Qualifications:
- Formal Lean Six Sigma Green / Black belt certification
- Solid comprehension and listening skills
- Excellent analytical and data analysis skills, careful attention to detail and accuracy
- Self-motivated, self-directed, results-oriented, and capable of working independently within deadlines
- Ability to maintain a high level of focus & flexibility
The anticipated pay range for this position is 84,500-136,100 annually. The actual base pay offered will vary depending on multiple factors including job- related knowledge/skills, relevant experience, business needs, and geographic location. In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus.
