Join a team dedicated to improving health care services that lead to better health and equitable care. The Quality Measurement and Research Group (QMRG) is responsible for health care quality content development and knowledge curation for a wide range of topics. Representing over 115 staff of varied skills, subject matter expertise, and service capabilities, the department is responsible for annual revenue of approximately $30M and an operating budget of approximately $15M.
Reporting to the Vice President of Quality Implementation, the Director will be responsible for leading the budgets for two Centers – Analysis & Evaluation and Quality Informatics, including staffing allocations, hiring, recruitment, management of team resources, participate in operational initiatives for QMRG strategic plan, mission, vision, and values.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain tools and resources to effectively and efficiently manage roughly 25 staff who have a mixed portfolio of internally and externally funded projects.
- Mentor and support team leads (Assistant VPs and Directors) in planning, monitoring, and adjusting staff allocations to projects.
- Collaborate with leadership and supervisors to conduct project resource planning for new and existing projects.
- Serve as the Quality Implementation teams representative in working with the VP of QMRG Administration and Planning to support department-wide budgeting, forecasting, analysis and resource management.
- In collaboration with other Planning and Operations Directors, identify and establish policies and procedures for shared resources and operations within QMRG (i.e., travel and professional development, activities to retain staff, monthly operations reporting, human subject research protection documentation).
This position is expected to be in constant communication with QMRG leadership and management and able to anticipate staffing, budgeting, and other operational needs.
The Director of Planning and Operations should be skilled in analytics and able to understand and use data on staffing, non-staffing resources (e.g., other direct costs), and assist implementation of enterprise wide resource planning for QMRG and Centers. We are seeking a strong collaborator who has successfully managed complex environments and can motivate others to achieve a shared objective. A candidate knowledgeable of financing, budgets, programs/projects administration, staffing talent and capabilities is preferred, as well as having strong skills in budget management and creative problem solving.
Requirements:
- Bachelors degree in health policy, public health, health sciences or a related field. Masters degree preferred.
- 6+ years of experience in developing, managing, and monitoring budgets and in project management with multiple leaders and management staff.
- Experience projecting resource utilization, conducting analysis to inform resource requests, allocation, and planning.
- Proactive, agile, team management, strong speaking, writing, ability to work under pressure, deadline oriented, flexible and able to adapt to contingent environments.
- Demonstrated experience working in complex environments with a high degree of organizational effectiveness.
- Demonstrated ability to exercise appreciable latitude for independent judgment and action.
Compensation & Benefits:
- For new hires, this position pays in the range of $145K - $160K per year, depending on experience.
- This position is eligible for an annual incentive bonus, payable in accordance with policy.
