Columbia HospitalityAbout the role
General Manager | Rosario Village
(Columbia Hospitality Executive Search)
Let’s start off with the most important part-what’s in it for you:
Join as the foundational leader of the historic Rosario Village—a much-loved resort undergoing a vibrant revival on Orcas Island. You’ll spearhead the relaunch of the iconic Moran Mansion this summer and guide the build out of future waterfront guest accommodations. This is a rare opportunity for a visionary leader passionate about F&B, events, and community-focused hospitality to shape a beloved island asset for decades to come.
Responsibilities:
• Provide overall direction, coordination, and leadership across all property departments.
• Lead group sales outreach, contract negotiation, planning, and execution for weddings, corporate retreats, and reunions—leveraging Rosario Village’s intimate, nostalgic charm.
• Be highly visible and guest-facing—spending the majority of time in public spaces, connecting with guests, checking on service flow, and ensuring every visitor feels welcome, seen, and valued.
• Step in to assist wherever needed, whether that’s helping the wedding team with setup, supporting a dinner service in the restaurant, or pouring wine behind the bar during peak demand periods. This is a natural part of your leadership style, not just a bullet point in your job description.
• Serve as the primary liaison to community groups, Orcas Island officials, industry associations, and media.
• Implement and uphold company-wide standards, policies, and guest service procedures.
• Partner in creating and managing the annual operating budget, financial forecasts, and long-term financial objectives.
• Set and monitor KPIs across Finance, Guest Experience, Infrastructure, and Talent Growth.
• Work with department heads to maintain budget controls, strategic pricing, and enhanced revenue performance.
• Produce timely reports and distribute insights across leadership.
• Safeguard and enhance all property assets through strong maintenance, security, and emergency preparedness programs.
• Analyze guest feedback and collaborate with teams to elevate service standards.
• Actively represent Rosario Village in the local community and hospitality networks.
• Recruit, train, schedule, mentor, discipline, and evaluate staff—modeling positive leadership and culture.
• Provide formal performance reviews and ongoing skills-based training.
Qualifications
• Minimum of 5 years progressive experience as a General Manager at a similarly sized property with strong F&B and event programs.
• A true hospitality-first mindset: you lead from the floor, not from behind a desk.
• Naturally inclined to pitch in during service—whether that means bussing tables, greeting guests, or lending a hand at a wedding event.
• Expertise in food & beverage operations and event management, with a hands-on approach.
• Demonstrated ability to thrive in island or rural environments—resourceful, flexible, and community-rooted.
• Track record relaunching or reopening historic or seasonal properties, ideally within independent or boutique portfolios.
• Strong financial acumen: budgeting, forecasting, expense management, and P&L responsibility.
• Excellent communication skills—able to craft contracts, reports, operational materials, and articulate vision to teams, guests, community, and media.
• Versatile general management capabilities: organization, problem-solving, decision-making, time management, and results-driven planning.
• Skilled people leader: coaching, delegating, relationship-building, scheduling, and motivating diverse teams.
• Knowledgeable in relevant laws, codes, licensing, and safety standards.
Compensation: base salary range of $135-155K DOE with up to a 25% incentive target. Benefit plan to be discussed during the interview process.
