About the role

Vertiv has a transformational global opportunity for a Sustaining Engineering Manager in Anderson, SC who will be responsible for developing processes and systems for effective product management after from development to production, supporting the setup, release process and change management for new part numbers. The individual in this role will lead and manage the global Sustaining Engineering organization, supporting the products and projects to be released into production. Driving continuous improvement to the Engineering release process and Change Management to support products and maximize their effectiveness.

The Sustaining Engineering Manager will leverage the Sustaining Engineering resources to manage the Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system, support end to end design management, since the engineering input, to operational areas, such as procurement, planning, manufacturing, and quality. The sustaining Engineering Manager will establish a framework for sustainment and consistent product improvement, reducing product failures and increasing operations efficiency. Will be the focal person for all issues in manufacturing and the field, providing project management and technical leadership for enhancements and extensions of current products. Helps provide support and expertise in business solutions for manufacturing through the most effective use of Vertiv Digital Assets and other technology by working with the organization's business stakeholders.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Create, control, and implement a correct DFMEA (Design Failure Mode and Effect Analysis).
Support the operation providing a complete and full Engineering definition for manufacturing.
Create workmanship standards and manufacturing requirements to stablish product compliance criteria.
Create and track engineering change notifications (ECN) through systems and process to ensure effective completion.
Drive DFM (design for manufacturability) culture.
Work with procurement and engineering buyers for new items, and part numbers setup, and Bill of Materials (BOM) inputs.
Train order engineering on SKU requests and BOM (Bill of Materials) changes.
Manage PD Cloud, project execution and create new products according to the strategy and change management required.
This position will support applications such as Oracle ERP, Oracle Engagement Cloud, Oracle Field Services, Oracle Product Development Cloud, etc.
Act as a subject matter expert (SME) in the development of engineering architecture framework development, and design and methodology development. 
Focal point of contact to support operations.

QUALIFICATIONS

7+ years technical, product/service, strategic planning, manufacturing or directly related experience.
Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
Excellent communications skills – written & verbal.
Exceptional consultative approach, understanding customer needs, documenting requirements, solutioning to meet requirements, consulting to determine customer fit to solution, developing, and delivering solution in accordance with customer expectations.
3D modeling / 2D drafting.
Ability to facilitate positive and effective cross-functional relationships across the LOB.
Previous experience with ERPs and PLM systems.
Lead the effort to perform root cause analysis and implement product fixes, modifications, and design enhancements.
Support driving full documentation of design including, BOM, drawings, and procedures.
Provide Engineering support to operations for product compliance (ROHS, UL, CE, etc).
Analyze, track, troubleshoot and identify root cause for product issues escalated to Engineering.
Utilize operations feedback to identify issues and drive Engineering improvements.
