JOB DUTIES
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Works under the supervision of the Recreation Manager, Recreation Programs Supervisors and Recreation Sports Supervisor.
No supervision is exercised in this position.
Performs a variety of customer service and front desk duties for the recreation division.
Assists in the creation and organization of various passive and active recreation programs, cultural arts, special interest classes, and special events for patrons of all ages.
Provides leadership and supervision to various passive and active recreation programs, classes, and special events.
Using excellent customer service skills, establishes and maintains effective working relationships with other employees, officials, and all members of the general public.
Supervises the facility and the safety of the participants using the facility during public and private events.
Must be able to take charge and direct children in case of an emergency.
Receives fees for various recreational activities and building rentals.
Greets visitors to the facility and directs them to the appropriate areas.
Gives information to the public regarding all adult and youth recreation programs and leagues throughout the year.
Answers and screens incoming calls and takes messages for all recreation division facilities.
Responsible for opening and preparing facilities for daily operations.
Responsible for closing and securing facilities at night.
Attendance at work is an essential function of this position.

QUALIFICATIONS
This position is subject to the City's Drug and Alcohol Free Workplace Program. This includes pre-employment testing, post-accident testing, reasonable suspicion testing, return to-duty testing, and follow-up testing.
Extensive background checks required.
Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record for the past three years.
Background in recreation helpful.
First aid, AED, and CPR certification, or ability to obtain such within six months of hiring.
ANSI certified Food Handler preferred, or must be obtained through City classes within 60 days after entry into employment.
Good public relations skills necessary.
Good telephone skills necessary.
Ability to count change and use a cash register.
Knowledge and skills of Microsoft Office products and other computer related functions.
Ability to work varied hours, including weekends and evenings.
Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with co-workers, supervisors, other City personnel, and the public.
Ability to assist in developing, coordinating, and directing varied activities involved in after school and summer youth programs.
Must have a friendly disposition and caring attitude toward all ages of patrons.
Knowledge of lesson plans and children's programming, preferred.
Ability to operate tools and equipment listed.
Ability to follow verbal and or written instructions.
Ability to work under stress and handle stressful
