Summary/Objective

Working as a member of the clinical team, the clinician provides excellent, protocol-driven reproductive, gender-affirming and primary care services. The clinician actively works in conjunction with clinic team members to advance the clinical scorecard demonstrating clinical skills proficiency and respect for patients and co-workers with differences in backgrounds, lifestyles, viewpoints, and needs in areas such as ethnicity, age, race, gender, creed, and sexual orientation.

Essential Functions

  • Perform comprehensive and routine focused physical examinations, diagnose and treat, prescribe medications, order and interpret (as needed) laboratory tests, perform screenings and in-clinic procedures and educate patients on healthcare options in support of exceptional reproductive and complementary healthcare services. Utilize electronic medical records and associated devices and equipment efficiently to support clinical practice.
  • Provide excellent patient-driven customer service to patients consistently. Seek to anticipate patient needs and pro-actively work to increase the satisfaction of the patient experience. The patient experience includes their first impression which can be affected by the clinician’s demeanor in the exam room, level of professionalism exhibited, clinical assessment and treatment and the collaborative efforts of the clinical team to meet and exceed the patient’s expectations.
  • Understand fully and adhere strictly to PPGWNI medical protocols. Practice within scope of licensure. Use online and paper protocols as reference documents effectively. Actively increase knowledge of protocols through continued reading, studying and attendance at clinician phone calls and meetings and keeps up to date on new and revised protocols. Function as a resource and role model to clinical staff on professionalism and medical protocols, procedures and practices. Understand the follow-up process and how to effectively utilize the Follow-up Team. To ensure practice is within parameters of PPGWNI medical protocols and scope of practice, proactively seek out training. Provide for mentoring and coaching for licensed and unlicensed clinical staff.
  • Maintain a high-level of productivity and efficiency based on PPGWNI’s established patient schedule as supported by clinic staffing. Help ensure that the clinical team is working together in a cooperative and coordinated manner to ensure positive clinic flow and deliver exceptional health care services while meeting established productivity standards. Be a champion and positive change agent for new or revised medical protocols and services.
  • Travel to other health centers as required in support of job duties. Must have own personal transportation, valid and unencumbered State driver’s license and current vehicle insurance.
  • Flexibility in hours required to support patient scheduling including working evenings and Saturdays (where offered).
  • Performs after-hours triage and consultation on a rotating basis. 
  • Review and evaluate patient’s health history including obstetric, gynecologic, contraceptive, medical, surgical, family health history, and psycho-social backgrounds. Evaluation includes the assessment of the effectiveness of current contraceptive methods and identification of future needs based on patient’s lifestyle and plans. Learn and use information about how the needs of a diverse patient population can be sensitively met.
  • Perform physical examinations with special emphasis on the reproductive system including breast and pelvic exam, Papanicolaou smear, bimanual and recto vaginal exam and other specialized procedures. Based on findings and utilization of prior health history, formulate diagnoses and treatment plans including those for sexually transmitted diseases and other minor gynecological problems, in accordance with medical protocols. May refer more complex cases to a specialist.
  • Perform gender affirming care per the medical standard and guidelines including evaluation of appropriateness, medication management, lab evaluation, support letters for transition and, referral guidance.
