About the role

Avion Solutions Inc., an employee-owned company, seeks candidates for a High Powered Microwave (HPM) / Radio Frequency (RF) / Electronic Warfare (EW) Engineer to support the US Army at Redstone Arsenal. This position is based in Huntsville, AL.

Job Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Shall provide analysis of technical data provided by vendor; insight into effects of HPM on other equipment; and recommendations to the Government as the sole HPM subject matter expert on-site.
  • Perform critical analysis of technical data packages including but not limited to SRR/SFR/PDR/CDR presentations, HPM acceptance test planning/results, HPM lethality analysis, and HPM risk mitigation strategies.
  • Provide recommendations on the emplacement of the HPM system to maximize lethality while limiting impact on equipment.
  • Work with all stakeholders to gain approval to operate the HPM system both CONUS and OCONUS.
  • Perform all-source analyses to acquire required technical specifications.
  • Provide Professional Engineering Advice, guidance, and assistance in various stages of research, development, and deployment.
  • Formulate/estimate technical parameters that are not available from all source analyses.
  • Support preparation of risk assessment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related engineering field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in HPM, RF, and/or EW.
  • Experience evaluating, coordinating, and risk mitigations with HPM/RF/EW systems.
  • Must be a US Citizen and have an active DoD Secret Security Clearance.
  • Must be able to travel up to 25% of the time. US travel only.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Must effectively work within a multi-disciplined team, including program management and technical/engineering personnel.
  • Experience with Directed Energy Weapon Initial Operational Employment Review and Approval Process (DEWRAP) process.
  • Experience with a wide range of sensors (EO/IR, Radar, etc.).
  • Experience with non-kinetic effectors (Lasers, EW, etc.).
  • Day-to-day work requires the development of detailed schedules and processes
  • Understand system engineering processes.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated experience using MS Office suite products (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Demonstrate a professional demeanor when working with senior Arm
