Company Description
The shipping department is in need of a floor supervisor. Qualified candidates must be able to control work flow and see that daily/weekly tasks and side-tasks are completed satisfactorily.
Job Description
Ensure all pre-shift processes are performed.
Conduct daily start up meetings.
Assign tasks. Regularly review and check employee’s work throughout the shift.
Inspect the quality and accuracy of work being done.
Monitor floor activity and provide a visible presence to promote safe working habits and a high level of productivity.
Ensure forklift daily inspections are done and documented.
Lead by example.
Create a positive work environment and develop ownership in department operations with the employees.
Address employees’ needs and communicate any issues to the Manager.
Maintain a safe working environment.
Ensure processes and procedures are carried out uniformly during each shift.
Suggest process improvements to the Manager and be prepared to follow through.
Check email regularly and respond to issues that that can be handled by the department.
Maintain employee time cards.
Develop and train material handlers and leads for future opportunities.
Monitor performance of individuals and shifts to identify ways to increase productivity and accuracy.
Monitor reports throughout the shift to ensure all processes are completed.
Ensure housekeeping is on done on a daily basis.
Respond to customer service issues to resolve them and identify ways to prevent future issues from occurring. Takes corrective action as needed.
Provide a high level of customer service to our retail stores.
Develop and sustain a positive working relationship with other department Supervisors to ensure the Shipping department is consistently contributing to the goals and objectives of the Distribution Center.
Conduct daily start up meetings with employees to share company-related events and additional information.
Cross-train employees in all areas of the department.
Assist in other departments as needed.
Establish employee goals and conduct performance and attendance reviews.
Regularly review and check work of employees throughout the shift.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED.
Ability to read and write in English.
Strong work ethic.
Forklift, reach truck, and order picker certification or willing to be certified.
Basic organizational, mathematical, and computer skills.
Knowledge of proper safety measures.
Able to communicate professionally with others cross-departmentally.
Ability to manually move and lift 50 lbs regularly and frequently up to and over 100 lbs.
Ability to work at varying heights.
Ability to stand frequently as well as the ability to walk, sit, balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch.
Ability to work independently or with a group
Ability to effectively lead a team.
