System Design Engineering Manager

We are seeking an experienced System Design Engineering Manager to lead a team of engineers in the design, development, and implementation of complex systems and solutions. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in systems engineering, project management, and leadership, with the ability to drive projects from concept to completion while ensuring quality, efficiency, and adherence to project timelines. This role requires both technical expertise and excellent people management skills.

Responsibilities

• Leadership & Team Management:
• Lead, mentor, and manage a team of system design engineers, providing guidance and support to achieve project goals.
• Foster a collaborative work environment, encouraging professional growth and continuous learning within the team.
• Allocate resources effectively, balancing workloads to meet project deadlines and deliver high-quality results.
• System Design & Development:
• Oversee the design and development of complex systems, ensuring they meet functional, performance, and safety requirements.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (software, hardware, mechanical, and electrical engineers) to ensure seamless integration of system components.
• Review and approve system architecture, design specifications, and technical documentation.
• Project Management:
• Manage the full lifecycle of system design projects, from initial concept and requirements gathering to testing, validation, and deployment.
• Develop project timelines, budgets, and resource plans, ensuring alignment with company objectives and customer needs.
• Monitor project progress, addressing issues, risks, and changes in scope as they arise, and communicate updates to stakeholders.
• Technical Oversight:
• Provide technical expertise in systems engineering, including requirements analysis, system architecture, and design verification.
• Conduct design reviews, ensuring that all solutions meet regulatory standards, performance criteria, and customer expectations.
• Ensure that design changes are documented and implemented according to established procedures and quality standards.
• Process Improvement:
• Identify opportunities to streamline the design process, reduce costs, and improve system performance and reliability.
• Implement best practices in system design, testing, and validation to ensure efficiency and quality.
• Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory requirements to continuously improve system designs.
• Customer & Stakeholder Engagement:
• Act as the primary point of contact for system design projects, liaising with internal and external stakeholders, including customers, vendors, and senior management.
• Gather and analyze customer requirements, ensuring that system designs meet or exceed expectations.
• Provide regular project updates, including technical presentations, progress reports, and risk assessments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• 7+ years of experience in systems design or systems engineering, with at least 3 years in a management or leadership role.
• Proven track record of successfully managing complex system design projects from concept to deployment.
• Strong technical knowledge of system design principles, including architecture, integration, and testing.
• Proficiency in using system design tools, CAD software, and project management tools (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Jira, Microsoft Project).
• Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and leadership skills.
