The Sales Engineer, Commercial, will be a key technical resource, providing pre-sales solutions design, engineering, and physical on-site installation and support for Ting's internet and managed services. Combining technical expertise with customer engagement, this role will ensure that businesses receive first-rate solutions tailored to their specific needs. This position will be based in Tucson, AZ.
Collaborating closely with the Commercial Sales team, the Sales Engineer will design and present internet, voice, wi-fi and other managed solutions, support deployment efforts, and complete service installations. This role requires a balance of pre-sales consultation, network engineering, and field service work, ensuring that customers experience uninterrupted service from initial engagement to ongoing support.
What You’ll Be Doing
Pre-Sales & Solutions Engineering
- Act as the technical subject matter expert for voice and Wi-Fi solutions, supporting the Commercial Sales team in customer engagements.
- Work directly with customers to understand their business requirements and design customized network solutions for voice and managed Wi-Fi services.
- Conduct site surveys and assessments to evaluate network feasibility and infrastructure needs.
- Create cost-effective proposals, network diagrams, and presentations that align with business objectives.
- Work with internal teams, including Product Management, Network Operations, and Field Services, to ensure solutions align with Ting’s product capabilities.
- Support RFP responses and technical sales presentations to prospective customers.
- Assist in VoIP system design, network failover configurations, and Wi-Fi deployments, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
Installation & On-Site Support
- Physically deliver on the installation, configuration, and testing of voice and managed Wi-Fi equipment, ensuring high-quality deployments.
- Escalation point for on-site and remote technical support for customers during and after deployment, as needed.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues with Wi-Fi, VoIP, and network hardware/software.
- Perform both remote and on-site maintenance and repair of network equipment as needed.
- Collaborate with third-party vendors and internal teams to coordinate VoIP cutovers and network activations.
- Maintain accurate documentation of network configurations, site survey findings, and service activities.
Technical Training & Enablement
- Conduct technical training sessions for customers and internal teams on Ting’s voice and managed Wi-Fi services.
- Stay informed on emerging industry trends, competitive offerings, and new technologies.
- Assist in developing knowledge bases, technical documentation, and best practices for network design and deployment.
What You’ll Bring
- 0-2 years of experience in sales engineering, network engineering, or a related field.
- Expertise in voice and managed Wi-Fi solutions, including hosted voice, SIP trunking, PBX systems, and enterprise Wi-Fi.
- Strong knowledge of networking technologies (routers, switches, wireless, VoIP, and cloud-based platforms).
- Hands-on experience with installing, configuring, and troubleshooting network hardware (MikroTik, Cambium, Aruba, Alianza, etc.).
- Familiarity with fiber, fixed wireless, and cloud-managed network solutions.
- Ability to design and implement network solutions for businesses, MDUs, and enterprise environments.
- Strong communication and presentation skills to engage with customers and internal teams.
- Industry certifications (CCNA, JNCIA, CWNP, or vendor-specific) are a plus.
- Willingness to travel within Tucson and greater Southern AZ market
