Job Summary
Outstanding opportunity to join the DRS Land Electronics team in Huntsville AL as a Program Manager. The successful candidate will lead development and integration projects focused on high-power solutions onto combat vehicle platforms within the Operational Energy business campaign. In partnership with the assigned project engineer, this will include delivering on contractual commitments, meeting all technical requirements as laid out in the performance work statement, implementation, and monitoring performance utilizing a form of Earned Value Management. The management of the project will require leading both direct and matrixed assigned personnel to ensure proper methods/processes are followed to track program cost, schedules, and performance across the project. Will be responsible for leading all meetings with the integrated product team (kick-off through project close). Provide interface, communication, and coordination with internal and external customers on matters pertaining to the contract and potentially lead follow on bid and proposal activities.
Job Responsibilities
- Responsible as Program Manager in Operational Energy Market area which includes delivering capabilities such as high-power generation, power conversion, power control/distribution, and system integration.
- This position will be required to work closely with Business Development, and Engineering, to products align to customer needs and future market opportunities.
- As Program Manager, will ensure project execution via integrated product team approach (kickoff through project close)
- Prepare for and participate in contract/subcontract negotiations. While representing Company’s interests, assure that all government regulatory guidance is adhered to.
- Formally identifies, assesses, monitors, and mitigates risk throughout the program life cycle. Obtains management approval prior to making decisions that will cause deterioration of established program, cost, and schedule objectives.
- Develop and implement recovery plans for yellow and red programs (i.e., schedule, technical performance) and corrective action plans when deviations from budgets and/or schedules are evident.
- Perform variance analyses of schedule and cost on a formal and informal basis and present them to senior management (i.e., earned value management system)
- Serve as the primary interface with the customer on all matters involving contract execution. Coordinate with other departments on resolution of contractual problems with the customer. Coordinate with Contracts Administration on issues pertaining to contract requirements, changes, and interpretations.
- Lead monthly Program reviews.
- Manage Internal Research and Development projects in the operational energy market area.
- Understand cash flow management principles.
- Support, communicate, reinforce, and defend the mission, values, and culture of the organization.
Qualifications
- Engineering or business degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of 7+ years of relevant experience
- Required experience in business management to include program management office, finance, contracts, and procurement.
- Preferred experience in manufacturing systems, operations, and new product introduction into manufacturing systems.
- Ability to understand technical drawings and coordinate supply chain efforts for complex procurements.
- Knowledge of program management tools and procedures.
- Solid leadership, communication, and management skills.
- Exposure to finance, contracting, export regulations, engineering, logistics, manufacturing, and supply chain management.
- Program Management certification preferred (i.e., PMP or DAU level 3) or willingness to pursue certification.
- Ability to provide proposal estimates and writeups in support of proposal efforts.
- Experience with Production and Engineering Services contracts is a plus.
- A background in quality, audit management and root cause corrective action management are a plus.
- Solid computer skills including MS Project and advanced MS Excel, Costpoint exp. a plus.
- DOD related experience preferred.
