The Global Manufacturing Engineering Director for Varian, a Siemens Healthineers company, provides leadership and direction for global manufacturing engineering resources and activities in this fast-paced, team driven environment.  This position will report to the VP of Manufacturing and will have direct responsibility for the Manufacturing Engineering teams globally with manufacturing engineering site leads at each location. The lead will drive standardization of processes, practices and procedures across all manufacturing sites and will partner with Manufacturing and Quality in the identification, development, and execution of solutions to resolve systemic issues.  The Global Manufacturing Engineering Director will collaborate cross SHS business/function and drive strategy that improves productivity globally and drives manufacturing engineering to the next level including annual capital plans, financial plans, and strategic capacity plans for all sites.  The successful candidate will drive manufacturing innovation, flexibility and reliability at Varian and create a huge impact on the future of this business.

Job Description:

  • Oversee the global manufacturing engineering team including global planning, development, implementation and maintenance of manufacturing process, tooling, and equipment for new and existing products.
  • Promote and execute on Manufacturing Engineering strategy and collaborate cross functionally with engineering, supply chain and quality in releasing new products and production plans.
  • Promote innovative initiatives for new products and ideas and oversee global continuous improvement initiatives resulting in cost-reductions and customer give backs.
  • Drive standardization across the global sites.
  • Drive excellence and robust innovative solutions to achieve operational goals and in conformance with all compliance and safety standards, regulations, and policies.
  • Drive engagement early on in product life cycle and partners with the New Product Introduction (NPI) team to transition process from R&D to production.
  • Work with the Supply Chain team and manufacturing on core and strategic manufacturing strategy and clear roles and responsibilities for manufacturing engineering global operations.
  • Responsible for Manufacturing Engineering fiscal budget.

Qualifications:


Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent, Master’s Degree preferred
  • 10 years operations or engineering experience preferred
  • Track record of excellent leadership, development, and collaboration skills
  • 7 years of people management experience
  • Solid understanding of Quality and Safety Regulations
  • Validated knowledge of manufacturing principles and practices, and procedures
  • Ability to build strong working partnerships, trust, and credibility at all levels
  • Solid understanding of Continuous Improvement and Lean Manufacturing methodologies and proven track record of implementation
  • Strong interpersonal skills and decision making
  • Solid project management, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • 20% travel to global sites will be required when possible

The base pay range for this position is:

Min $200,420 - Max $300,620
