This includes scheduling, registration, coding, billing, and other essential revenue functions.
Occ Summary
Coordinate and participate in a variety of duties associated withdaily clinic preparation process, patient identif ication, patient checkin/out, charge posting, cash management and patien t appointmentscheduling. Position also involves customer service, messag edistribution, ancillary scheduling and preparation and referralsmanagem ent.
Work Performed
Prepare for clinic visits by rev iewingnext day patients andcompleting next day preparation activities. E nterpre-visit orders andprepare new patient charts.Pick upX-rays, office charts, medicalrecords, reports, petty cash and collections bag. File h istory sheets,ancillary reports and all other required patient record do cumentation.Return medical records.Attach HIPPA/Medicare documents to t heencounter forms.Check-in patient upon arrival in the practice. Identi fycorrect patientinformation in Maestro Care. Verify patient demographic data. EditMaestro Care as needed. Accurately identify the appropriate ac countfor patient visit. Present and educate patients on required forms a ndobtain signature as required by policy and procedure. Completes allMae stro Care check-in files and manage all appropriate alerts. Collectand p ostco-payments and balances on accounts due. Imprint all patientspecific chart documents and requisition/transmittal documents. Copy,file and di stribute insurance cards as indicated by procedure.Coordinate all labs/p rocedures as requested. Maintain private physicianoffice charts.Preparee ncounter forms. Investigate and account for missing encounterforms. Audi tencounter forms for completeness and accuracy beforebatching. Batches e ncounter forms or charge posting in Maestro Care.Schedule tests and proc edures. Complete and distributeancillary service requisitions.Explainbil ling to patientsaccording to PRMO credit and collection policies. Determ ine the amountof cash to be collected based on insurance plan.Check-outp atients. Make return appointments by scheduling patients into thecorrect appointment type, entering the primary care physician orreferring physic r messages to physicians, nurses andothers. Report obtained medical info ian and scheduling tests and procedures.Answer telephone, take anddelive rmation from patients and referringphysicians accurately, completelyandt imely. Disseminate messagesaccording to practice communication standards
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Strong verbal andwr itten communication. Basic PC and data entryskills. Knowledge of medical terminology and telephone etiquette.Demonstrated ability to organizeand prioritize work, provide oral andwritten instructions, interact tactful ly with customers and establishand maintain effective relationships with others. Must be able to applyspecific departmental policies rules and r egulations relating toverifying patient information, collecting payments and maintainingrecords and forms.
