Senior Cost Accountant HQ GS

Summary

This role performs Costing and Inventory Valuation activities within the Global Agriculture Controllership team. Under limited supervision, this role performs analysis and monitoring of cost and inventory transactions and financial accounts. This role supports control activities for vendor rebates and performs accounting functions related to Agency inventory.

Key Responsibilities

• Detailed monthly review of assigned Sales Area(s)
• Monitor controls over inventory costing and coordinate resolution of identified variances
• Complete accounting activities for month end close
• Perform ad hoc analysis and journal entries are required
• Support and assist junior members of the accounting staff in the development of their technical skills
• Work closely with business operations, FP&A, and other financial professionals
• Navigate multiple ERP systems to complete tasks
• This position requires strong attention to detail and expertise in managing large data sets and financial information in Excel

Typical Education

Bachelor’s Degree (B.A. or B.S.) in Accounting from 4 year college or university

Relevant Experience

• Minimum 5 years of accounting experience
• Comprehensive understanding of accounting fundamentals and principles
• Experience with JDE, Agvance, Power BI, Axiom or SAP preferred

Other Information

CPA, CMA, MBA preferred. This is a senior-level position to the Cost Accounting job family requiring a comprehensive understanding of Accounting fundamentals and principles. Work is varied and complex. Assignments are broad in nature, usually requiring originality and ingenuity.
