Our employees are not only part of history, they're making history.Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking to add a Staff Human Factors Engineer to its Human Factors and Systems Engineering (HFE) team to work compliance on the Sentinel program. Northrop Grumman supports the Air Force’s sustainment, development, production and deployment of hardware and system modifications for Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) Ground and Airborne Launch Control Systems, Launch Facilities and associated infrastructure.
The selected engineer may be responsible for multiple tasks within requirements, verification, and interfaces for the Sentinel program from an FHE/HSI perspective. The engineer may be responsible for performing tasks dealing with interface definition, requirement decomposition, compliance tracking, verification planning and verification execution.
Basic Qualifications:
- Educational background in psychology, human factors, user experience, graphic design, industrial design, or HCI-related field from an accredited university, and at least 12 years of related experience; OR at least 10 Years of relevant experience with a master’s degree; OR 8 year of relevant experience with a PhD degree. AN additional 4 years of experience can be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Must have an active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope, with an ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business need
- Demonstrated experience utilizing UI/UX design principles
- Experience using Microsoft (MS) Word, Excel, Power Point, MS Project and Engineering Scheduling tools or applications.
- 2+ years of Systems Engineering experience
- 2+ years working in requirements management tools (e.g. DOORS)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Past/Active employment with MMIII or Sentinel Weapon Systems
- 4+ years of Systems engineering experience
- Experience with any of the following tools and languages: DOORS, Cameo, Teamcenter, CPLM, Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence, etc.)
- Strong understanding and broad application of complex engineering systems (engineering standards, configuration management, material review board, process control, tooling, facilities, software, etc.) for the development of complex systems of systems.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, including demonstrated experience with high value customer presentations, with ability to focus on multiple projects with competing priorities.
- Additional PQs
- Ability to build software prototypes for usability testing of candidate designs
- Experience with visual design of computer user interfaces
- Human Factors, Psychology or similar degree
- Experience with Human Factors in a defense contracting environment (familiarity with Mil-Std-1472G and ANSI/HFES 100-2007), DoD UI/UX Design Experience
- Demonstrated experience with prototyping/wireframing tools

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.
