About the Team

The Global Partners legal team provides transactional counsel and support for our Global Partner Organization supporting Workday’s various strategic partnerships, sales, services and innovation partner programs. We partner with the broader Workday legal team and other cross-functional teams to drive growth, improve customer experience and scale on our path to $10 billion in revenue and beyond.

About the Role

The Assistant General Counsel, Global Partners, will support partner program development as well as drafting and negotiating strategic partnership agreements. This person will also focus on optimization of our global partner go-to-market legal strategy across all verticals and business segments, oversee the further development and delivery of legal terms that provide customer-oriented solutions, and enable our strategic innovation and revenue growth objectives globally. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional judgment and business acumen and be comfortable, effective, and persuasive in dealing with customers, partners, senior management, and business and legal stakeholders and leading as an innovative change agent.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with leaders across the global partner and sales organizations to support strategic growth initiatives

  • Design and implement legal approaches for new go to market models and new types of strategic partnerships

  • Drive valuable technology transactions, which will include negotiations with partners and customers, including partner program, data processing and professional services agreements, assignments, amendments, and other transactions

  • Provide proactive strategic advice and guidance to internal teams regarding business and legal issues and risks

  • Assist in implementing legal efficiencies to support the global partner organization

  • Help build and improve contract templates and negotiation playbooks and provide internal training to global partners, partner support desk, legal contract solutions, and the broader GTM legal team

  • Partner effectively with partner support desk, deals management, sales, revenue recognition, privacy, security, and legal contract solutions

About You

Basic Qualifications:

  • J.D. Degree and membership in at least one state bar in good standing

  • 10+ years of law firm and/or in-house legal experience, with at least 5 years focused on negotiation and management of high-value technology transactions

  • CIPP/E Certification and/or deep understanding of complex global data privacy laws and principles

Other Qualifications:

  • Experience with SaaS, web technologies, cloud technologies/platforms, cloud computing, and/or enterprise software

  • Experience supporting a high-impact, creative global partner organization

  • Experience with technology transactions and strategic
