Position Type: Full-Time, Remote
Licensure: Must hold PMHNP certification; BHS will sponsor licensure in all BHS states.

 

Position Overview

Behavioral Health Solutions is seeking a Regional GDR Advanced Practice Provider to support our systemwide Gradual Dose Reduction (GDR) program. This role is dedicated exclusively to conducting GDR reviews, participating in interdisciplinary meetings, and ensuring alignment with CMS regulatory requirements for psychotropic medication management in long-term care settings.

This fully remote position requires a clinically strong PMHNP who excels in collaboration, clinical review, and evidence-based medication stewardship.

 

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Review & GDR Participation

  • Perform comprehensive chart reviews to assess appropriateness of psychotropic medication regimens.
  • Participate in scheduled GDR meetings with facility teams, physicians, and interdisciplinary groups.
  • Provide clinically sound recommendations based on CMS expectations, best practices, and BHS protocols.
  • Identify opportunities for dose reduction, medication discontinuation, or behavioral interventions.
  • Document findings, recommendations, and meeting summaries in a clear, timely manner.

Regulatory Compliance & Quality Assurance

  • Ensure all GDR recommendations meet federal and state regulations governing behavioral health services in long-term care.
  • Support facilities during audits and survey processes related to psychotropic medication management.
  • Maintain current knowledge of CMS guidance, state-specific rules, and evolving psychotropic stewardship standards.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Partner with facility nursing teams, medical directors, attending physicians, and BHS leadership to promote safe and appropriate medication practices.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on GDR and psychotropic medication reduction strategies across BHS markets.
  • Maintain consistent communication with internal teams to ensure standardized practices across states.

Qualifications

Required

  • Active Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) certification.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain licensure in all BHS states.
  • Strong understanding of psychotropic medications, geriatric psychiatry, and CMS requirements for long-term care.
  • Remote-care proficiency, including comfort working within virtual meeting and documentation platforms.
  • Strong communication, analytical thinking, and interdisciplinary collaboration skills.

Preferred

  • Experience in long-term care, geriatric psychiatry, or GDR-specific roles.
  • Familiarity with psychotropic stewardship and facility survey processes.

Work Environment & Schedule

  • Fully remote position.
  • Schedule is based on GDR meeting calendars across regions.
  • Requires regular virtual engagement with facilities, BHS teams, and interdisciplinary groups.
