Job Description

The Director of Scientific Communications and Medical Information plays an integral role in supporting Bicycle Therapeutics’ ongoing development programs. This position resides within the Medical Affairs Organization and will ensure timely dissemination and publication of data, develop internal and external communications plans and materials, and collect and generate responses to information requests (product, study, safety events, etc.) throughout the lifecycle of the asset. This role provides an outstanding opportunity to work in a cross-functional environment and interfaces with Clinical Development, Regulatory Affairs, Drug Safety, Information Technology, Commercial, Investor Relations, Compliance and Legal departments. Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to learn and master new skills are essential to success. Opportunities for direct ownership over key business processes and team leadership roles may be provided to outstanding performers.

  • Lead matrixed teams responsible for development, implementation, and communication strategies supporting our portfolio
  • Drive an integrated  global scientific communication strategy including publications plan, scientific platform(s), internal/external presentations, educational collateral
    • Including scientific statements, lexicon, and scientific narrative
    • Work with the Head of Medical Affairs Strategy and Field Medical Affairs to develop externally facing resources
  • Execute on corporate strategy for data sharing and external communication tactics, particularly around program milestones
  • Determine impact and conduct gap analyses for scientific communication strategy
  • Collaborate with the Field Medical, Clinical, Quality and Regulatory Teams to capture and address inbound inquires and reported safety events relating to our development programs
    • Including design and development of systems required to monitor and respond to inbound requests for information
  • Review and interpret internal and external data along with cross-functional teams to inform and update scientific communication strategy/plan
    • Including preparation of submission to various guideline committees and compendia
  • Lead preparation for unified scientific congress narrative and plans aligned with Clinical, Commercial and Investor Relations teams
  • Build and maintain solid internal relationships and proactively collaborate with internal subject matter experts and external key opinion leaders, advocacy and professional organizations.
  • Design and implement innovative programs to address unmet needs and exhibit a state-of-the-art approach to scientific communications and medical information
  • Ensure compliance with all Bicycle business guidance and legal regulatory requirements for scientific communications (publications, education, and information requests) such as Good Publications Practice, relevant Standard Operating Procedures, OIG, FDA & PhRMA guidelines.
  • Work in collaboration with Medical Affairs Operations to budget for ongoing initiatives and select and negotiate with appropriate vendors and consultants.
  • This role does not currently have direct reports but will be responsible for building out the Scientific Communications and Medical Information capabilities as the organization grows

Qualifications

 

Essential:  

  • Advanced degree (PhD, PharmD, MD etc.) in a scientific discipline or equivalent degree with relevant experience in clinical, scientific and/or industry medical affairs; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in oncology and biotech strongly preferred
  • Experience in Medical Information/Scientific Communications for oncology therapeutics
  • Strong preference for new product launch experience
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills with the ability to focus on detailed
