Job Summary:

Intermediate Professional:

 

Project Coordinators support the planning, coordination, and tracking of departmental projects to ensure milestones, deliverables, and documentation are managed effectively. They assist with departmental projects and operations, supporting the development of project management tools and documentation, monitoring progress, maintaining timelines, and preparing materials to help keep stakeholders informed throughout the project lifecycle. Work is performed in alignment with the department’s vision and goals across its mission areas of Education/Training, Research, Clinical Care, and Outreach/Advocacy.

 

Project Coordinators provide operational and administrative support to Associate Project Managers and Project Managers. This role contributes to successful project execution and operational efficiency through strong organization, follow-through, and communication. They maintain project documentation systems, track action items, coordinate cross-functional meetings, and compile reporting materials. The position manages smaller initiatives independently; work for larger initiatives is performed under guidance, with increasing autonomy based on demonstrated competence.

 

This position supports projects aligned with established project management best practices and methodologies, including waterfall, agile, and hybrid. They will serve on cross-functional project teams that execute strategic objectives, key initiatives, or operational goals. The overarching goal for the Project Coordinator is to aid the department in improving the effectiveness and efficiency of services delivered via transparent project execution. This position reports to the PMO Lead and is exempt from the State of Colorado Classified Staff system.

 

 

Senior Professional:

 

Associate Project Managers are responsible for independently leading departmental projects to ensure they are completed on time, within scope, and within budget. They develop project plans, coordinate resources, monitor progress, analyze performance data, and maintain consistent stakeholder communication throughout the project's life. Associate Project Managers are utilized on a wide variety of projects, ranging in size. Depending on size and complexity, they may be responsible for a single project or multiple projects. All work is conducted in alignment with the department’s strategic vision and goals across the mission areas of Education/Training, Research, Clinical Care, and Outreach/Advocacy.

 

Associate Project Managers are accountable for the full lifecycle management of low-to-moderate complexity initiatives. They exercise discretion, analytical judgment, and independence in defining scope, identifying risks, synthesizing financial and operational data, and recommending solutions. Their work is performed with general direction from PMO Leadership, with increasing autonomy based on demonstrated competence.
